Question on keyboad copy and paste commands

Hello.

I would like to know if there is any way to copy and paste a selection using the keyboard commands (Windows, so <ctr-c> & <ctr-v>), but have a simple verse with reference pasted (such as when using the copy verse tool). Currently, it seems it will only paste from the keyboard with one of the citation options, all of which seem to use various forms of complex footnotes. I've done some searching in the help, the website, and the forums but could not find any options for this. Is there a way to assign a simpler copy format to the paste key?

In Tools >> Program Settings you have various options to manage citations and footnotes

But you have to use the Copy Bible Verse tool for verse formatting and a reference.

I discovered those options, I just wish one of the options on the settings page was for a simple one line along with reference format. It seems a little strange to me to have the complex footnote options tied to ctr-v, and the simpler reference options require a separate formatting tool.

I can see how your request would be useful - but it would break many peoples workflow and I think lead to a lot of confusion.

On both major OS's Ctrl/cmd+ C and Ctrl/cmd+ V are system wide commands and what you copy is just what you get.

I cannot think of an easier way to accomplish your request to have a Bible Reference attached to the excerpt that you copy and paste other than using 'Copy Bible Verse'. This tool can be kept quite small in your work area though and does not have to be intrusive. I nearly got what you wanted using 'Visual Filters' but not quite.

Hi Mike.

I don't think they would need to change the behavior. All that would need to be done is to add a few new entries to the 'citation style' settings that would give results similar to what's available already when you use the 'copy verse' function. A couple of those most common entries could be added (reference at the beginning of the line, end of line, etc...). Even better would be a 'define your own style' feature where you could customize the format to your liking, but I'd settle for my simpler previous example as well.
