Problems after system crash

Hi all,

after a system crash I had to reinstall Windows 8.1 on my PC. I had a copy of the old Logos5 installation directory. So I restored this and startet Logos5 from it without a new program installation. I signed in, the program did an update and restartet. But now my books aren't there. If I try to open my old settings I get a message "Sie verfügen über keine entsprechende Lizenz um dieses Werk betrachten zu können" (this is german and would be something like "You don't have a license to view this book" in english).

What went wrong (perhaps I better had installed the program and not restoring the old directory)?

How can I get my old installation running?

Please help! Thank you.

Just restoring the directory requires that you use the scan command to make the resources visible.

Probably the best approach you could take right now is a fresh install from the Logos servers. Unfortunately Logos is having server trouble right now so getting onto the Logos web site to find the link to install Logos 5 isn't likely.

The command Update Now is the English command that would work in an English-based version of Logos. I have no idea what it would be working in the German-based interface.

You enter commands in the Command Bar and hit enter to execute the command.

Hi all,

I did a new installation with a fresh downloaded installer of logos5 and signed in. Unfortunately the result is the same as my first attempt ....[:(]

If I enter commands into the "command"-field (thanks, Mark!), only a search is performed, but no command (perhaps this is because the command has to be entered in german, but I don't know the german syntax of commands ....).

That actually should be enough. You may need to stay online for awhile as Logos usually does one or two additional downloads after a fresh installation. One is usually datasets needed by the program and the other is your resources.

With regard to the command in German, try using a German word that might correspond to 'update'. The command bar will search for a command similar to the one you enter, so it may come up with the one you are looking for.

Hi Mark,

I assume commands are not available in the (resp. my) german user interface. I tried the "help" ("Hilfe") window, but it stays empty whatever I enter there. Even if I enter such a primitive word as "Buch" ("book") there is no match at all.

If there would be no server problems at logos I would download the english version of installer and try that. But downloads are not available at the moment ...

Hi all,

I managed to solve the problem [;)]

These are the steps (I got some ideas from https://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_multiple_computers):

deinstalled Logos5
installed it again with the option "no actualization"
copied the folders "Data", "Documents" and "Users" from the old installation to the new one
startet Logos5 in offline mode without signing in - my books and everything are present [Y]
stopped Logos5 and restarted with signing in - my books and everything are still there [:D]
launched the actualization - OK!
