TC - if you haven't yet, upgrade to an SSD. It makes a world of difference.
I have a bottom end machine and can tell you that indexing was very much HD bound - in spite of a crappy processor.
its a 2nd gen sandy bridge, also i have a 256SSD. but here internet access is slooooww.
Lee - a lot of that is not just tied to the slowness of your internet. I think we (2 million logos users) overwhelmed the Logos licensing server, or something. Plus internet doesn't really have much to do with your indexing times, just the downloading times. TC - I hear you. Even some of the older machines without third gen sata controllers would benefit from an SSD, and they can be picked up for 100$ or so in the 256gb range. Bought mine at Tiger Direct here locally.
Abondservant. It doesn't help that I had to pull some corrupted RAM out of my system a while back. Low RAM, slow HD I'm getting exactly what I "paid for". But upgrades will have to wait.
