I believe that has been discussed before, along with PDFs, azw3, and other pet file types.

In short, every other document starts as a .docx any way. If its a book, then probably it has DRM, or other restrictions governing its use, and would be a good way to get logos in trouble.

EPUB (et al) can be stored, read, and converted with the tool Calibre, and a third party app that you'd need to search for.

    abondservant, thanks for your reply!

It is true that I'm able to convert the Epub in Calibre, but not without loosing much formatting.  No doubt, I'd like to be able to import PDF's as well!  That would be most helpful!

I don't see how Logos could get in trouble for allowing EPUB file types to be imported.  If someone were to use that function in a blatantly illegal way, then it's certainly their responsibility and not the Software they use.  If it were the case that Logos would be liable for allowing import of EPUB file types, then Calibre has all sorts of problems on their hands! :-)

    God Bless!

But they would have to write an import filter for it - and though it sounds simple it never is.

They have a great docx import and since converters exist for most every format I've used (except LWP [:'(]) into docx, that seems like problem solved.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

The creator of calibre isn't making any money...

Remember Napster? The provider of a service is now liable for how their service is used. Which has a lot of scary implications.

I think if Calibre had deeper pockets, or was more closely affiliated with the individual that gives calibre the tools it needs to violate drm, then it would be a bigger deal. Why the plugin maker isn't getting cease and desist letters is beyond me.

You can covert LWP into .docx via LibreOffice. Not perfectly, but it works OK.

Just for the sake of argument & adding to the discussion, all/most Vyrso books start as ePubs & get spit out as Logos ebooks.

Because it's not illegal to distribute anti-DRM tools - only to use them (and then only in some countries).

Yes thanks for this reminder Mark.  I have Libre installed just for this - but emphasis on "not perfectly."

I still think Lotus WordPro was a superior processor to anything else. Sigh.

WordPro '97 was better than every version of Word up until 2007. But if you use it now (I have a copy installed in a VM), it's really horrible.

I'm willing to entertain the likely truth that nostalgia is playing a role here Mark. But I still reach for things in Word 2010 that wordpro seemed to do better for me.
