[resolved] Logos 6 atlas

Can someone verify the following for me:

The atlas needs Logos Maps Volumes one-three to work.  And that those volumes are not yet ready for use.  One more:  that both the extended and features crossgrades include everything needed to make the atlas work.  I ask because I have received contradictory information and I need these answered before I decide what to purchase.  Thanks!

    Not quite right.

The Atlas contains 6 big maps covering different periods of history, and dozens of  mini-maps that illustrate individual events.

Volume 1 of the atlas (which is the only one available at the moment), contains all the big maps, but only some of the mini maps. I presume (but don't know for certain) that volumes 2-3 will contain the remaining mini maps.

So atlas doesn't need volumes 1-3 to work, but it does need volumes 1-3 to be complete.

Reason I ask is because I was told that if I purchased the features crossgrade I would not have all the volumes needed for the new Atlas and I must purchase the extended crossgrade to have all three volumes.  But, from what I have read-the features crossgrade includes all new features, datasets for Logos 6.

Feature Crossgrade entitles you to the all the three volumes: https://www.logos.com/product/45041/logos-6-feature-crossgrade

The same holds for Extended Crossgrade.

The Core Crossgrade only gets you volumes 1 and 2. Exactly what you're missing is still unknown: https://community.logos.com/forums/t/93217.aspx

Mark, help me understand what you're saying.

When you say "big maps" are you referring to the ones labelled with the "Biblical World" prefix?  (because I have 13 of those):

According to the website, I have volumes 1 & 2 (which is hard to determine since they don't show up in the library and don't seem to be listed in the "About" window either).

The Biblical World maps all basically look the same except they highlight different cities and mountains.  They have no other variable markings (boundaries, regions, paths, etc.).  For example, the "Biblical World - Divided Kingdom" map above doesn't actually show any division markings.  On the other hand, the "mini maps" show specific things---mainly journeys:

In my two volumes, I have 17 mini maps for the Life of Jesus and one mini map under the Patriarchal Period.  But no mini-maps for any other time period.

So are we to understand that none of the Logos 6 map sets are competed yet?  Will I gain anything at this time by adding volume 3?  Am I understanding this all correctly?

I saw on one of the videos there was like a slide feature where they have a picture/art rendering, anyone know where that is located?

Sorry. Six was from memory. But yes, that's what I meant.

If you zoom in on them, you'll find they're different from one another. Far less towns/villages on the earliest maps, for example. The underlying geography is basically the same though, for obvious reasons!

For example, the "Biblical World - Divided Kingdom" map above doesn't actually show any division markings.

The description refers to a timespan, rather than what's one the map. I don't think boundaries are supported yet.

In my two volumes, I have 17 mini maps for the Life of Jesus and one mini map under the Patriarchal Period.  But no mini-maps for any other time period.

If you notice on the L6 product pages, there's an asterisk next to all the map volumes (i.e. licence now, content later). You don't yet have vol. 2, and I'm assuming that even vol. 1 is not complete. Sean has said there'll be 200 maps throughout the three volumes.

Yes, there are 13, one for each era in our Biblical Events dataset. I call these the "Biblical World" maps. We don't plan to show further division markings or other editorial detail on these: that will go on the individual story maps

Volume 1 is not yet complete: it includes all the Biblical World maps, and most of the rest will be Life of Jesus and Early Church maps. We don't have a detailed listing for any of the three volumes yet, but they'll be appearing over the next several months.

Each additional volume simply adds more maps to your resources, as Mark said.

The Logos Media section at the bottom of the Atlas panel. But we only have one shipped so far, for "Jesus Feeds 5000, Walks on Water, and Teaches".

I've posted the likely contents of the three volumes here (though it's still tentative, since we haven't made all these maps yet).

I have the Extended Crossgrade and my Atlas feature says "Map not loaded."  I have no time periods on the left side of the screen and nothing appears when I type in the "Person, Place, Event, or Map" bar

If your system has finished indexing, and you're connected to the internet (Atlas requires that), then something may be wrong. Can you provide more details on your status and the system you're using (Windows vs Mac, etc.)?

Both my MacBook Pro and iMac are doing this.  Both finished indexing and connected to the net.

You should post logs from when you try to access the atlas.  Link to enabling logging and posting logs is in my signature.

What do you mean 'post logs'?  I am trying to utilize Atlas but it reports no maps available.  I went to the Logos Store to try an purchase the Atlas Maps and I saw three volumes available with prices but could not add them to my cart.  Am I doing something wrong?  Thanks!

You can't buy these maps separately at the moment. You can only buy them as part of a base package.
