Synoptic Gospels Commentary and Link Set

All, it's been driving me batty for a while that when I try to read through commentary from Calvin on say the book of Luke in "Commentary on a Harmony of the Evangelists Matthew, Mark, and Luke" tied to a window say "link set a" my window with the scripture I'm studying follows the commentary, rather than the opposite.

Does this make any since?

So if I start my study on a passage, as I begin reading the commentary my scripture window tries to follow the presentation of the commentary and gets "lost".

Any pointers here?

The linksets are multi-directional. So that any resource you move, makes the rest move too.

I seldom use the links unless I'm reading several Bible versions at once.

I do wish, that when a linkset was attached to a Bible the Bible held priority.

Add a third tile to your layout, another Bible. In the resource menu of this new Bible (the same place where you can assign it to a link set), select "send hyperlinks here". You'll see a little bullseye/target on the resource icon, similar to the little ABC link set indicators. Now any link you click from within the commentary will open in that second Bible, and your link set "A" Bible and commentary will stay put until you manually navigate to a new location.

Edit: If you really wanted to, you could even open another copy of the commentary and make the send hyperlinks here Bible part of link set B along with the second commentary. :-)

Edit 2: I think I misunderstood the problem. Are you talking about a situation where the commentary skips over verses, and so as you scroll the commentary, your Bible will jump over the absent verses to try to "catch up" to the commentary? You may just need to unlink the resources in this case and read them side by side.

Ultimately your conclusion is correct. It would seem the linkset is multi-directional, so when I read through Calvin's commentary on the first 3 gospels which sets those gospel accounts side by side, my resource link-set A starts chasing the commentary as I read it, rather than driving the commentary.

Maybe I will simply have to read side-by-side, but it would seem like there is a better option, or at least a better way to handle the Calvin commentary.

Harmony tagging is naturally going to hit this kind of wall. In order for the commentary to function the way you want, say in a passage guide (showing up no matter which gospel you're searching on) you're going to have to tag it with each milestone.

This is is less of an issue where only John tells a story or only Luke. But when Matthew and John agree (or all over the synoptics) and you hit parallel stories you're going to hit multiple milestones at the same time. What's a linkset to do? It can either open three more windows (idea?!?!) or it can go into spasms as it realizes it can't do it all at once.

In this way, we may conclude that Logos has developed a fully human AI. When faced with the choice of doing nothing or everything - it tries to do everything and nothing good results.
