What's the best way to get familiar with these grammar concepts? I'm trying to get more familiar with using the Case Frames, Clause Participants, and Clause Searching Semantic Roles, and I'm struggling with some of the categories. They seem to be extremely useful though the few times I've correctly performed searches.
Such as - comitative, stimulus, resultant, experiencer, patient, clause modifier, benefactive, etc etc
Are these things relative to English Grammar 'transliterated' from the Greek? I'm assuming it's got to be present in the Greek as well, so does that mean it's best to learn Greek? Or is there a 411/101 course or book that can be taken for those of us who dozed on in language classes?
