Please add a Crossword Puzzle

Greetings,

I would like to suggest the addition of a "Crossword Puzzle" (to the already existing "Word Find Puzzle").

I can suggest a few different ways of going about this:

The user could enter several Scripture passages, and the Crossword Puzzle would generate a crossword using words taken from sentences within that range of Scripture passages (you could separate the Scripture passages with semicolons).
The user could highlight a selection of text from one resource, and the Crossword Puzzle would generate a crossword using words taken from sentences within that range of selected text.
A more time consuming approach might involve the user copying select passages from one or more resources in the Logos library, and pasting it to a list that the Crossword Puzzle then uses to generate a crossword (using words taken from sentences within the range of each copied text).
The user could also provide a list of words, enter their own statements for each word, and the Crossword Puzzle would generate a crossword using those words and coinciding statements.

I think it would be great if all four of these options (or something similar to / better than them) were implemented into a Crossword Puzzle feature.

I 'third' it. The Word Find is useful to a point, but some additional tools like the CWP would be great.

Sorry to be the wet blanket here, but I would rather Logos spend their time and energy on many many other things before they spend time working on a game. If you want a game, amazon has a bunch for sale... Not sure new distractions have a place in my library.

Things I would rather see In logos than a game:
PB syncing to mobile devices, mobile device feature parity, any of a hundred uservoice items, the ability to include audio/video files in a PB, and so on.

There's always time for fun! [:D] Seriously, though, I want the feature not to play the game, but to create crosswords from the Bible to aid in teaching. I've actually been researching different crossword puzzle programs, but they all lack one thing....an easy way to build a list just using words from the Bible. The programs pull from various dictionaries to fill in the puzzle, but I need one that can pull from the Bible. And Logos is a good candidate for giving us something like this. Should it be a priority over other more important things? No. But it can be on the to-do list. [:)]

I'm not sure about crosswords, specifically. But I'm definitely in favor of interactive learning aids, including "games". User creatable Flashcards, Quizzes, Geography puzzles that can be shared with other users, esp across computer and mobile platforms would be extremely helpful for learning. Inc community challenges and leader boards to encourage use through competition. I'm not sure if it belongs in Logos, maybe Faithlife.com Apps! Then we can have Group level & Global leader boards. Web based games interactives would also be more portable.

Yes, it's true, back in 1994 or so Logos had a crossword puzzle program. It is long since gone. The crosswords were licensed, I believe, and that has long since lapsed.

I sold more than a few of these when I was a sales rep for Logos (yes, it's true, back in 1993-1995 or so).

Note: I'm not saying Logos would ever do this again. Just wanted to provide some historical perspective and a little fun.

Wow, I missed it. I got Logos in 2000. There are a lot of talented developers here. Maybe I can pay someone to build a crossword puzzle program that can generate words from books in my library.

I concur - not everyone is a Greek scholar - some are Sunday School teachers - creating these kind of tools can help the average Christian get into the scriptures when otherwise they may not. Just like not everyone here uses the Greek tools, not everyone has to use the wordfind or crossword tools; but some of us would use them, for either personal study or for group use.

If the puzzles were to be generated from the bibles in our libraries, would there be a KJVO filter? [;)]

There should be Greek and Hebrew crosswords, too.

I concur - not everyone is a Greek scholar - some are Sunday School teachers - creating these kind of tools can help the average Christian get into the scriptures when otherwise they may not. Just like not everyone here uses the Greek tools, not everyone has to use the wordfind or crossword tools; but some of us would use them, for either personal study or for group use.

I would suggest that these should be in the original languages to encourage proficiency.

Some of us also homeschool our children. I have used WordFind, CrossWord and even Greek CrossWord puzzles in my schooling.
