Wow.  I am continually impressed with the work you are doing to get publihsers in line with this project.  I do have one question. I noticed twice now the stipulation "if you have a Logos Base Package". Does this man if  user owns one of these books, but purchased without a base package, they cannot access them on the iPhone?

Does this mean if a user owns one of these books, but purchased without a base package, they cannot access them on the iPhone?

    That is correct.

To access any title in the iPhone app (outside the free titles that come with the app and a logos.com account) requires that you first be a Logos 4 user. If the app looks into your account and see that you are a Logos 4 user, it then reads your license files and give you access to all the title that 1) you own and 2) are compatible with the iPhone.

To be compatible with the iPhone means that we have licensing from the publisher to display the title in the app and that we have added the necessary functionality to the title to make it run within the app.

Are you sure you meant to say "that is correct" to this question? It sounds like what the person is asking if this:

Let's say I downloaded Logos 4 and only bought the MacArthur NT Commentaries and nothing else. Then if what he is asking is true, one could not access that because they did not first buy a base package. But if you bought a base package, like the Bible Study Library, and added MacArthur then you would be able to use them. If that is the question, then I think it is wrong. Please un-confuse me? If that is possible.

Thank you for rephrasing that Kevin. That is indeed the question I am asking.

I think I recall reading in one of these posts that you at least have to have the minimal crossgrade for that feature to work, but I may be wrong.

Are you sure you meant to say "that is correct" to this question?

Yes. It is correct that a person has to be a Logos 4 customer to access any titles outside of the Bibles and other free resources for logos.com account holders. So, in your example the person downloaded the free engine and then bought a book. This person would not have access to the title on the iPhone. iPhone compatibility is not built into the engine by itself. iPhone compatibility is an add-on feature for those who have purchased Logos 4. You'll notice in the comparison chart that "iPhone Access Enablement" is listed as a feature of the Logos 4 base packages.

    Does that clear things up?

Hi Ryan, yes that does clear things up for me. Ownership of a Base Package entitles users to access their licensed books. I understand the business model now as well. Thanks :-)
