Logos 6 Indexing continually on PC start up

I don't know if this is a normal feature of indexing, but every time I start up my PC or laptop, indexing starts automatically. This happens after indexing has finished on a previous PC session and I have closed down my computer. There are occasions where I have started up again an hour or two later to resume my work and indexing starts all over again. It seems that indexing is triggered on start up, regardless of the fact that it has just finished on an earlier session an hour or two ago!.

I have had to pauses indexing on a couple of occasions, as it seems to like to 'take over' my processor speed. Any (constructive) ideas would be welcome!

    Hi George

This is not normal - indexing should only take place after new resources have been downloaded

Any (constructive) ideas would be welcome!

Please enable diagnostic logging (https://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging) and upload logs after

    • starting Logos
    • letting the indexer start
    • stopping Logos

Graham, here are the log files you requested on the errors I have been experiencing. See how you go.

    Thanks for that.

I can't tell why the reindex is taking place - hopefully someone with more expertise on reading logs will be able to do so

every time I start up my PC or laptop, indexing starts automatically.

The Win 7 computer is automatically re-indexing in order to fix problems it has detected. Unfortunately this is doomed to failure because the problem lies with most of your resources  i.e. "Resource of type logos failed to open at location ...: Milestone index is missing from discovered resource".

I'm not sure about the reason - it may be connected with reverting to 5.2b on the 12th - but you should run a check on the hard drive before doing anything else.

With two computers you could get out of this by using the (good) resources of one to update the other, but you appear to have two faulty systems, and the issue affects over 60% of your resources. First try deleting the folder C:\Users\George Gates\AppData\Local\Logos5\Data\jnvry3x5.sio\ResourceManager\logos.  Hopefully this will be rebuilt when you start Logos and indexing should then succeed.

If it doesn'twork delete your resource folder at C:\Users\George Gates\AppData\Local\Logos5\Data\jnvry3x5.sio\ResourceManager\Resources\ and then start Logos. All your resource will then be downloaded and indexed.

I'd like to see logs from your other computer rather than assume it is the same problem.

Now that's interesting! I had a look at the resources folder and there are quite a few LBXLLS format files listed. Aren't these supposed to be converted to the newer format?

Will try to get to that as soon as I can.

Logos has to be backwards compatible with recent resource file formats, so it's not surprising lbxlls is still managed; especially as many of those resources came from third parties. I had well over 200 a couple of years ago and now it is down to 140, so conversions are still progressing.

How does this work in Logos 6?

Is this one of the reasons that the lbxlls files are not recognised when I browse through my library?

No! There is an issue with files being corrupt or not recognised for some reason. Have you progressed with my suggested fixes?

Decided to re-uninstall, having too many problems that your suggested fixes didn't solve. Thanks for your support though! Maybe sometime soon, when the dust settles, I'll look at re-installing. At this point in time, I'm better off not to do that.
