Can anyone tell me how to open the program with a blank screen apart from the ribbon? I have tried holding down control when I open the program and selecting 'use blank layout' but this has to be done every time.
Thank you.
In the bottom left hand corner of the home page, click on "customize" and uncheck the "show home page at start up"....
Thanks. However this results in showing me the desktop as I last used it, not a blank screen.
Others who are smarter than me may be able to help, but you can also enter "close all" in the command line to close the layout..

There are two ways to have Logos open right now: Homepage or Last used layout.
You can hold down the Ctrl key while starting Logos to force it to a blank layout, but this requires you to remember to do that, plus it also brings up the login screen too (I believe).
A "open to specified layout" option has been requested by other forum users: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/9434/75375.aspx#75375
Thanks for your help. I'll hope that in the future the option to open to a saved layout will be added.
John, that would be nice, but as I have several layouts, I would still need a menu to select the one I want which we already have. I like the idea of bringing back the last layout I was working on since at times I shut down Logos and forget to save my current layout. It keeps me from losing my work when I get absent minded...
John I have saved a blank layout as a shortcut.
1. With the screen blank go into the layouts and rename the top/newest one "blank" etc without the quotes. Let layouts close. .
2. Go back into layouts and drag the "blank" shortcut up to the Shortcut Bar.
I try to remember to click on it and then to let it appear before I turn off Logos.
OR you can type into the command box the words <close all> (without the arrows) and press enter.
2 Then you can type those words in again and that command will be in the drop down box.
3 This time, drag the command "Close all" from the drop down box onto the shortcut bar where it will become an "icon" .
4 Then you could hit that icon to close everything on the screen before you turn off the program.
Basically both accomplish the same thing.
If this is not clear enough, please ask for further steps to be laid out.
Regards
Steve
Thank you, Steve. I have implemented the first of these options and it works well. Even if I forget to clear my desktop when I finish I can do so with one click when I start.
I am grateful to everyone who has helped me with this annoying matter.

John:
Glad to know you were able to get it working. Presently that is also my favorite way of doing things.
I forgot to mention that there is also a key stroke option Ctrl-Shift-W which will clear the screen window of resources.
In the latest beta we are also able to re-save named layouts with a right-click. Perhaps other changes will be also coming that would allow an easier clearing/emptying/re-loading etc
Odd Home Page quirk:
My Home Page always includes a graphic from the Anchor Yale Bible Dictionary which I like (even though I'm not too sure WHY it appears exactly). However, if I de-select the "Logos Blog" in the Customize - Content area, then the graphic disappears . . even though it really has nothing to do with the Blog as far as I know.
I called Tech Help and we thought it was fixed by Refreshing the screen, but today I notice it's still acting the same way and it just doesn't seem right to me.
