Notes and highlighting

I am not a real power user (though I am trying to learn some of the harder stuff). I basically am using this program (L4) to bible study. I find it a real disadvantage to not be able to right click and access highlighting. Notes are not user-friendly like in L3. I tried to have a panel floating and it was near impossible to highlight in it without doing cumbersome gyrations. I know I am not explaining this well but I just want simple highlighting and note taking capabilities.

Hey Valerie,
Once you have a highlighting style selected, you can apply it to selected text by pressing Ctrl-K on your keyboard. Notes is an issue that many of us are sounding our voices about in the hopes that the Logos team will hear us and make some improvements. Hopefully, your comment just helped our case.

I wish that resource highlighting was as easy to use as it is in drawing mode. The CTRL-K tip is helpful, but I've love to be able to perhaps click with my mousewheel and change highlighter types/modes by scrolling the mousewheel.

Hi Valerie, what works best for me is to float the highlight panel (I also resize the panel when doing this), when working with other books that I have selected to float. I also put the highlighting tool on the short-cut bar by dragging it there. If I quit the highligting tool, it remembers that I selected it to be a floating panel the next time I click on the short-cut to use it again. When you float the hightling tool it is also accessible with the Alt-Tab key combination to switch between open windows. I've mastered having the highlighting panel next to another floating panel, that way it's a simple back and forth way of slecting text and then selecting the highlight I want to use.

I too would like to reiterate my concern over the downgrade in notes and highlighting. In L3 we could push a button OR use the shortcut to highlight. Now you have to make a 3 step process to apply highlighting. I like this function and wish it were easier. One tip I advise to you all would be to check and see if your mouse allows for you to program buttons. I assigned cntrl K as one, so I can highlight by just clicking a mouse button. That is nice. But still the notes function is poor, as it marks up with colored highlighter. There should certainly be an option for no color as there was in L3 so that my bible is not plastered with colors. Those two issues, along with the fact that the import notes tool is still not done has kept me using L3 all this time, because L4 is not functional to me. I may never go to it unless some of these many issues are resolved, especially a quality note system with an import tool. Please help us out with this my programming friends. I know you have a lot on your plate, but this is crucial to my ability to disciple and minister most effectively.

I am running 4.3. I opened notes and pasted a document into it. I can read it and it is titled. My highlight style has been selected. I am unable to highlight in the notes. Thought?

Hi David -
Welcome to the forums!
I am unsure about how notes work on the PC. On the Mac, highlighting of notes is not an option. Perhaps that is the case with the PC version as well.
