AMD A8 or Intel i3 to run Logos 6?

My laptop's motherboard went out and I need a cheap replacement laptop for a few months until I can purchase a better one. My current laptop is an HP Pavillion dv7, with AMD Turion II Ultra Core Duo processor 4g/500gb. It has run Logos 6 fine, but has been a little slow on start up.
I'm leaning toward the AMD A8 because everything I've read indicates it's better for gaming, and the Logos recommended hardware page said to choose the laptop best for gaming when in doubt.
I'm looking at the following laptops. #1 is the one I'm most considering:
1. Toshiba C55D B5310 AMD A8 Quad Core 4g/500gb - $349
2. Used Toshiba Satellite L855 Intel Core i3 4g/700gb - $275
3. HP 15-F010Dx Intel Core i3 4g/500gb - $379
4. Acer Aspire E15 E5-521 AMD Quad Core E26110 4g/1tb - $300
Thanks for your help. I'm buying one of these today!

Hi Cynthia;
Your 1st choice should be fine. You will lose a little screen real-estate, but all in all, it looks like a better machine.
BTW: It looks like HP has done a recall on the AC Power Cord of your current machine. See http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3979540

Thanks Erwin. I do prefer the 17 screen, but the 15 should be ok temporarily. I didn't know about the recall. Of course, I've purchased at least 3 new power cords over the last 5 years, so I'm not surprised.

One of the most important components to have is a fast hard drive. At these prices, you aren't getting an SSD (which is what you really will want). Do any of these have 7800 RPM HDD?

i don't know. I can check, but my guess would be no. Keep in mind I'm only keeping the new laptop for a few months, at which time I plan to custom design an HP, Envy. It will have Intel i7' and an SSD, among other things.

It was only the power cord, not the power adapter. Probably some safety issue, and an easy fix. If it was the adapter, it may or may not have been the cause of your laptop crash, and if that was the case, I would have suggested that you take it to an HP service center for a possible free fix. [:)]
I know that you stated "temporary", in which that machine should do very well. For a permanent machine, what others have suggested is good advice.
