Downloaded today, it automatically became a part of my Bible background collection -

(title:(manner, custom, background, archaeolog, archeolog) OR subject:(manner, custom,”New Testament—Background”,”Jews”, “Judaism”) OR (subject:(excavation, archaeolog, archeolog, antiquities) AND type:dictionary)) ANDNOT subject:(canon, doctrine,”Jews—Conversion”, “Hebrew Language”)

But not part of my Single volume Bible Commentaries - type:commentary AND subject:”Bible-Commentaries” ANDNOT subject:”Bible—Commentaries—Collected works”

Anyone know why?

    Anyone know why?

Can you verify that this volume (which I don't have) matches the second set of criteria that you set?

    David, two issues here:

    1) You have a single dash not a double dash in "subject:"Bible-Commentaries" and I think the subjects always use double dashes.

    2) The book in question has for its subject "Bible. N.T.--Commentaries" (double dash), so it looks like you need to include two more terms in your "Single volume Bible Commentaries" Collection: "Bible. N.T.--Commentaries" and "Bible. O.T.--Commentaries" (Some titles are inconsistent as to whether they include the period after Bible in that subject or not, but I think it doesn't matter since including it or not including it seems to pick up the same resources for me.)

Alright, well after much playing around I've got it added to my collection, along with a couple of other books it seems I was missing from that collection. My new rule is: type:"Bible Commentary" +subject:”Bible.--Commentaries” OR subject:"Bible.N.T.--commentaries" -series:(Commentary, Wiersbe's)

Though later got rid of the NT works as thats not really what that collection is for, so now its type:"Bible Commentary" +subject:”Bible.--Commentaries”-series

I discovered instead of typing out     ANDNOT subject: "Bible-Commentaries-Collected works"     that     -series    had the same pragmatic result, taking out everything that was part of a series (collected work).

Rosie, as far as I can tell from playing around, single dashes, double dashes, ten dashes doesn't really make a difference in some areas.

I guess you're right. I think I read somewhere from one of the Logos employees that punctuation is always ignored.
