How much content do you have on the Home Page?

I have a 19" LCD monitor, and the Scholars library. I only turn on Devotionals and Excerpts on the home page. I usually only see 1.5 to 2 pages of content on the home page. Is that normal? I've see screen shots with 6 or more pages of content.
Is there a way to increase the number of content pages on the home page? Is the amount of content (images, excerpts) related to which library package you have?
Thanks,
Peter

Ha! Peter, you're the first person I've ever seen who has asked to increase the content on the home page.[:)] Everyone else has been griping about not wanting to see articles about Logos employees' coffee drinking habits, or wanting to make the "Welcome to Logos" article expire sooner, or wanting to get rid of the content on the home page altogether because it's too slow to load.
The most content I've ever seen was 4 pages, I think, and that's when I had all the checkboxes turned on (Logos blog, news, etc.). When I turn on only Devotionals and Excerpts, I get one page of content. But I've got Logos maximized on a 24" wide-screen monitor with my resolution set to 1920x1200. When I turn them all on today, I get only 2 pages. I think I've seen others showing screenshots showing an indicator in the lower right that they had as many as 6 pages of content. But it's all relative. It depends on how much screen real estate you have.
Incidentally, I'm glad to report -- to anyone reading this who was complaining about the never-expiring "Welcome to Logos" message -- that it has finally disappeared from my home page! Yippee!!!

Wow, Peter, I am impressed with your interest.
I dont' directly know the answer to your question. I only get about 1 1/2 pages. To compare with others properly we probably need to talk 'articles' instead of pages. On my 1+ pages I have (with Community Pricing and Prepubs turned off) 10 columns with a total of 20 articles and photos. I would guess on a smaller monitor this same number of articles would take more pages which has to account for some differences you may have noticed.
My monitor has a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels.
I wonder how many articles you have, how many feeds you may have turned off or on, and what your screen resolution is?

In contrast, I have a 12.1" laptop screen w/ every "feature" and "content" turned on. today, I have 28 columns across 6 pages. I like the variety ...

I have about a 12" screen (that's the GLASS part, haha), and everything but community pricing and prepubs marked to view: I consistently get 8 to 10 pages of content: one day I even had 12!

Well Peter, if you like the reading [:)] go for it. On my notebook I was getting 4 to 8 pages until I uncovered a Home Page bug - as Bradley was kind enough to call it in L4.0b Beta 3 - so I was able to do some quick clicking to turn off the Home Page to avoid a L4 crash and burn.
So now I go straight to my studies with no lolly gagging around [:$].
It has actually helped my study time...go figue [H].

Today I have 12 articles, formatted into 7 columns over 1 1/2 pages. (I only turn on excerpts and devotionals; I read the Logos news feed and blog entries using Google Reader). The image selection on my home page today actually matches the Reading Plan passage I'm reading today - I was really impressed.
Knowing that I already have enough e-materials in my [Scholars] library that will last me more than a lifetime to read (I'm not that old, but I don't have a whole lot of free time to sit in front of a computer to read -- except these forums [;)]), I'm finding that the FSD feature and the random home page selections are very helpful in helping me discover new and interesting insights. The newspaper/magazine format of the home page has really started to grow on me (despite the slowness of loading or refreshing it). That's why I would like to see more content on the home page.
However, I'm finding that the excerpts seem to recycle quite a bit and seem to be mostly around similar themes or from only a few of the resources in my library. I think someone mentioned somewhere that the excerpts are actually hand-selected by Logos. It would be nice if the excerpts can be crowd-sourced like the Reading Lists to increase their diversity.
I would also like to see the home page excerpts to be more like the FSD feature -- a broader random selection from across my entire library. FSD has allowed me to "stumble upon" insightful / inspiring articles in my library more than once already. It's kind of like stumbling upon a cool news article or a refreshing magazine page or web page or blog entry.

I dont use my homepage.. When I close logos and reopen it, it starts on my passage guide with all my windows right where I left off. It makes it easier for me that way I dont have to set up my layout every time

Hmmm. I don't see a way to control the Home Page contents in Logos4.

Actually your layouts are automatically saved via snapshots, no need to redo this everytime. Aso you can name them so that when doing different types of studies you can choose the layout with books already setup for that particular study. This will allow you to keep the hompage (IF YOU want).
I have one setup for multiple monitors, floating windows etc and then I have one for when I'm on the go with a laptop. Just select the layout for my daily reading, or book studies etc; then save where I left off, for the next session
