Biblical People/Places search full category/every instance

I was wondering whether there is a way to search for every instance of biblical people or places in a Bible passage? That is, so it would show/find every occurrence of every person or place mentioned in a passage. This might not make much sense to you. But it does as a visual filter. The filter then would highlight every person or place mentioned in the passage for you, not just individual ones. Any ideas whether this is possible? I know that the Passage Guide in a sense does that search. So maybe it is possible to do the same search in the biblical text itself.

If I understand your question then you're asking if you could highlight every occurrence of say 'Paul' in Acts.

If so, you could use a visual filter.

Go to Documents > Visual Filter and give your filter a name.

Select 'All Bible Text' in 'Acts' in 'All Bible' (or whatever version you want.)

Then, type "Paul" and select how you want it to appear (i.e. 'Blue Foreground').

That should then highlight every occurrence of Paul in Acts in blue, once you have selected the visual filter in the Visual filters menu (three circles on top menu in bible panel).

Note that a person search will get more hits than the visual filter

I think the original request was for the ability to find all occurrences of all people & all places within a passage - not selecting a particular person or place.

If I'm correct, I can't think of any way of doing it!

You are right, Graham. I'm looking for all people in a passage. And I'm trying to do this for the OT. As MJ pointed out, this can be easily done with LN in the NT. So I'm looking for a way to do it in the OT. I'm not worried to much about pronouns, or lets say not every occurrence needs to show up. Rather I want to see all the different people that are mentioned in the text. That is, I would glean over the highlighting of the filter and check who is involved here. So I was wondering whether this could be done with biblical people. But that would mean to be able to show every instance where a biblical person is tagged in the text (RI). And I don't know whether we are able to search for a whole category so to speak.

Could you get after what you're looking for by doing a Clause Search for person:ANY and then browsing the subject, object, and indirect object columns for people to get a list of all of them?

You can also group by any of those columns (by dragging the column header to the area up above) to make it easier to collect a list of each person mentioned in the passage.

You could do something similar for places, though finding them all might be a bit more of a challenge.

And for all of this, you're relying on trusting Faithlife to have accurately tagged every single occurrence. Might be better to read through the passage yourself and write down each person or place you come across. It's a better way of learning the passage anyway.

For just getting a list of all the people I use the passage guide. That works well. What I was looking for was a search syntax like person:ANY. But this doesn't seem to work in a Bible Search. That's fine.

Yeah, I tried a person search, e.g., <Person: Moses>, in a Bible search, and that didn't work. That syntax works only for searching in Factbook. I know that all the people are tagged in the Bible, but I don't know of a way to find them all using search.

OK, thanks. But still, you can't do <Person *> to find all people. You have to know which people to search for in advance. He wanted a way to find all mentions of ANY person.

Here is a possibility:

Morph search for proper nouns: @NP (Hebrew), @XP (Greek)
This finds all the Names of people, but it also finds all Names of Places etc. Since I wanted both I don't mind
It does not find the term "God". But the sense lexicon has it now included: <Sense God (Israelite)>

These two searches do what I'm looking for at the moment. But it would still be nice to do a <Person ANY> Bible search etc.

I also am trying to find all assurances of proper nouns (particularly people). I am isolating my text to Hebrews 11.

I am using the above suggested @XP.

In a morph search of All Morph Text in Hebrews 11 in ESV with Logos Greek Morphology I get 26 results.

When I try to convert this to a Visual Filter (which is what I would rather have for this effort), Search All Bible Text in Hebrews 11 in ESV for @XP - Red Foreground, it misses Moses, Sarah, and Christ.

What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I misinterpreted my results. Both methods find the same results.

However, both methods miss Moses, Christ, and Sarah. I see now that they are not tagged as XP. Why? Is there a way around this? Is there a more reliable way to find people?

Explorer shows all the annotated people, places, etc. in a passage: here's the list for Hebrews 11. This should work equally well for the OT.
