released pre-pubs

yesterday the New Testament background commentary was released and I got duly notified that I could download it into the Libronix program, but it never showed up in Logos 4. Can someone explain the reason why this is so? And how this can be remedeed? I do expect today another pre-pub to be released and I like it to show up immediately within Logos 4 so I don't have to switch back and forward between the 2 programs

Hi Geertruida, when resources are marked as "Libronix" resources, which a few of the pre-pubs still are, that means they were originally developed for Logos 3.0. Some of them were so close to being released, that they went ahead and released them as Libronix resources, rather than delaying release further to convert them over to 4.0 resources.
If you still have Logos 3.0 on your system, open it and run Tools > Library Management > Sync Licenses. Then go back and shut down Logos 4 and restart it, and after a moment it should recognize that there are new resources and pop up a message in the lower right corner that you can click on to install them into Logos 4.
If you never had Logos 3.0 on your system, or you had it at one time but have already uninstalled it, you can still install it if you like, and do the above procedure, or give Customer Service a call and they can update your Logos 4 licenses for you over the phone.

I also got this and decided to make L4 download it without using the unlock key for Logos 3. At first I tried typing update now in the command bar. That didn't work. The web site said to restart Logos4, so I did, but that didn't seem to work either, until a minute later it did.
There's something a bit mysterious about when and how L4 will download new stuff. So assuming you're logged into L4 with the same ID you used to purchase the resource, and you don't have your internet settings in L4 turned off, it should download automatically - but it may take restarting L4 and giving it a few minutes. And it may take doing that a few times. I wish I knew why.

Thanks Rosie, I did this and it worked beautifully. Now I know how to do this with the expected release of today.

I don't know if I am the norm or the exception, I usually dwnlld to L3, then wait an hour, open L4 "update now" and that takes care of it.
I started doing this because on several occasions it never update itself by simply restarting L4.

Sorry to turn the corner a little here, but is this like the IVP NT Background Commentary? Better? Worse? Just different?

Kevin, I had a quick look to compare a bit, and what I've seen so far, they are complementary, one gives information which the other doesn't have, or one is more explicit in giving information. So using them side by side is not a bad thing. It is defenitely not worse, slightly different yes I think.

Thanks for the mini reviw. I guess I will hold off. Just bought WBC, NICOT/NT and upgraded my library to next level and will paying Logos over 200 a month for 12 months.

Instead of the process that Geertruida used, could she have just typed "update resources" from Logos 4, or is that not a solution to older works?

I think that's sensible in the circumstances. I already had this on pre-pub and what drew me to it was that there is more looking at the use of words in the origional language, which is a bit more than the IVP does. I guess it is a bit inbetween the IVP and the WBC and NIcot/NT.
