Can't unlock NLT Study Bible through Libronix

I recently ordered the NLT Study Bible which I received on CD as no electronic version was available for Logos4. Tried to install it off the CD but couldn't find it in my Library afterwards, so next I tried unlocking the resource using the Libronix Digital Library System. However, when I enter the unlock code that is printed on the back of the CD sleeve, all I get is an error message saying that the code is incorrect. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.

    Well...are you running V3 alongside V4?

If not...then I THINK that what you have to do is tell V4 where the resource is, which is in your CD drive...

    Try this:

Put the CD in the drive

Type the following into the command bar in V4

scan D:\Libronix\resources (or whatever the path actually is to the folder with the resource in it on the CD.)

Then restart V4 and wait a while to see if it scans and then finds it...

Let me know how it went...

If you ARE running V3 alongside V4, then just load the resource the normal way in V3, syncronize your account, then start V4 up and it will know that you have that resource, and automatically download it.

Please do follow all of Bob's advice.

BUT I have received incorrect codes before, so I know this could also be the issue. At that time I contacted the other "sister" publisher etc (It was a Libronix add-in from an affiliated company) They gave me another unlock code.

There is genuine confusion here. L4 is supposed to work without us doing any "un-locking" BUT it seems that most of the Libronix 3 CD's still need to be unlocked and "synchronized" in order to show up in Logos 4.

Hi Robert, I'm only using V4 so I tried the scan command, pointing it to the Resources folder on the CD drive - nothing happened. I also tried copying everything to my HD and then doing a scan of the new folder, but it just doesn't do anything. After I've restarted, how long do I wait before it actually starts the scan? Thanks.

The file name is "NLT.Logos4" mine was picked up by scanning L3 resource folder on the initial dwnlld of L4.

It then converted it to the L4 file.

My L3 files are here C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Resources- did you rescan your resource folder? Sometimes it may not look like it is doing anything (had this happen with the Tyndale Comm series).

Set it walk away for at least 30 mins, then go back and restart- it should dwnlld and index. At least this has been my experience.

It should have worked....I wonder if the syntax of the scan was incorrect...

Whyndell...can you post the correct syntax?

Does this mean you have deleted L3? if so scanning will not help if you have not installed the L3 version.

If this is the case install the L3 engine- reinstall the NLT dvd- and then scan the L3 resources folder. The reason for this L4 needs to see your license as well.

I have not been able to get scanning off the CD to work for me.

Beyers, there was a problem with the Logos servers a couple of days ago that may have contributed to the problem with not being able to activate the license through L3 (AKA Libronix). Please try again and report back. If you do get it working in Libronix, be sure to sync your licenses using the Account Management system of L3. That should tell the Logos server that you have the right to use that resource in L4 too. Then restart L4.

If that doesn't work, you may have gotten an incorrect unlock key. Fixing that would require contacting customer service. Information to do that is on the Logos web site.

Ahhh, I didn't realise that Logos3 = Libronix... Regardless, I've tried it in Libronix and it's definitely not working so I'm assuming they gave the wrong unlock key with the CD. First time I've ever heard of such a mistake from any manufacturer, but anyway. I've contacted customer service over a week ago already concerning this problem and they're still not getting back to me. Really annoying to say the least.

Sorry to hear that. Yes it has happened before. I can't say for certain whether this particular resource was to blame.

I would write them again. They are very busy, which means sometimes things get overlooked. Putting something specific and pithy about what you need in the subject line would probably also help.

BTW, I don't know if you've checked out your orders page, to ensure that you don't have a downloadable unlock script. But it's worth a look: https://www.logos.com/user/MyOrders Make sure you're logged in to Logos with your user ID before going to that page. Then click on the order number and see if there is an unlock script for you. (I doubt it, but you never know. We're in a transitional phase between L3 and L4, and it's possible they're beginning to do things in accordance with the L4 standards.)

Sadly this is not the case with this resource.  [:(]  Guess I'll give them a call on Monday then. Thanks everyone for their help, especially Bert for phoning in an attempt to help.

I realize this is a very old thread, but I'm having a similar problem.

I've inserted my NLT Study Bible installation CD, and done the Autoupdate.  I see the resources in L3 and they are all locked. But Libronix just doesn't prompt me to enter the serial number. So even though I have the serial number, I can't enter it to unlock.

    Here's what I've tried:

    1) Tools > Unlock Resources ---> (Didn't give me the option to enter the serial number)

    2) My Library > Click on the locked resource > Unlock This Resource > (Unlock Resources Dialog Box Opens) > Next > Enter Unlock Code > "The Code Was Incorrect"

    3) Exit L3 and restart ---> still no prompt

    4) Exit L3, Reboot, Restart L3 ---> still no prompt

If it makes any difference, I've installed L3 resources from 10 or so different Installation CDs in the past, including one for the Preachers Commentary just an hour before this one, and have always done so successfully. Never had this problem.

Also, I'm using L3 only as an installer, I'm really interested in accessing the resources from L4, but as we all know, L4 is not ready for installation via CD, only downloads, and the current way to install from CD is via L3, then syncing licenses to user, and getting L4 to download thereafter. That's what I'm trying to do. If there's some way to totally bypass L3, and enter my serial number via L4, I'd be happy to learn how to.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

    Theophilus,

The Tools > Unlock Resources feature in Libronix is only if you want to purchase resources that you do not yet own. Since you have the disc for the NLT Study Bible, you do not want to use the Tools > Unlock Resources feature, otherwise it would be like purchasing the resources a second time. To get Libronix to recognize that you have a disc in the drive that you need to get activated, follow the steps below which correspond to your Operating System.

    XP

    1. Insert the NLT Study Bible disc.
    2. Go to My Computer, right click on the CD/DVD drive and choose Open or Explore.
    3. In the new window that appears, go to the Setup file that looks like a white box with a blue lid and double click on that.
    4. When the Libronix update window appears, make sure that "Licenses" is checked in the Required section. (If you do not see "Required", that is ok)
    5. Scroll down to the Optional section and look for the "User Interface" that corresponds with your location. If you do not see one, choose User Interface English United States and click Update.

    Vista/Windows 7

    1. Insert the NLT Study Bible disc.
    2. Go to My Computer, right click on the CD/DVD drive and choose Open or
      Explore.
    3. In the new window that appears, go to the Setup file that looks like a computer screen and double click on that.
    4. When the Libronix update window appears, make sure that
"Licenses" is checked in the Required section. (If you do not see "Required",
      that is ok)
    5. Scroll down to the Optional section and look for the "User
Interface" that corresponds with your location. If you do not see one,
choose User Interface English United States and click Update.
    • When the update is complete, open Libronix.
    • A tip window should appear in the bottom right hand corner of Libronix saying that a Serial Number needs to be entered for the NLT Study Bible.
    • Click on the words Account Management in that window and follow the steps that walk you through how to activate the software & copy the books as well.

If that does not work, let me know and I will look into this more for you.

Thanks for taking the time to give the detailed reply, Deborah.

    • A tip window should appear ... saying that a Serial Number needs to be entered for the NLT Study Bible.

Exactly! This is precisely what is NOT happening. I don't get that window! So I don't get the opportunity to enter the Serial Number! (Everything else you've described up to this point completed successfully.)

Yes, actually I'm aware of this. What I meant to say was that because I don't get the dialogue box prompting me to enter the Serial Number, which I expected, I've resorted to other (incorrect) ways to try to get it installed. So I thought that if Tools > Unlock would at least prompt me to enter the serial number, I could try to enter the one I received with the CD. Alas, I this has been unsuccessful.

Rather frustrating, considering that I've successfully installed many other resources via CD many times before.

Further help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Problem solved. [<:o)] I simply installed on my (home) Mac, using Libronix 1.2.2. Dialogue box prompting me for serial number popped up IMMEDIATELY! Entered, accepted, and resources fully installed!

Successfully did in less than 10 minutes on my Mac what took more than 2 hours to remain unsuccessful on my PC. And we even wonder why Mac Users love Mac?  [:P]

Now, to sync my licenses and download onto my (work) PC. Sigh.

Thanks again for all the help, Deborah.

I had a similar problem in Windows 7 but removed the CD before starting Libronix. No matter what i tried the Serial # prompt did not appear. When I tried it on my XP machine and left the CD in the drive the prompt appeared when I started Libronix!

Thanks for chipping in, Dave. I only run L3 & L4 on Windows 7, don't have another machine with L3 & L4 running on XP. But better yet, I have a Mac!

For others reading this who, in future, have a similar problem, looks like the recommended solution to this problem in L3 when you don't get the prompt (on Windows 7) is, "try doing exactly the same thing you're doing correctly, but on another operating system". Worked for both Dave and me! [:P]
