It's almost impossible to answer such an open-ended question as that!
In terms of tools & media you are looking at a minimum of Logos 6 Bronze base package; but Silver recommended + individual purchases as indicated above. There are also denominational packages.
You can help by stating what books/package you have, denomination, position, budget.

Thanks for your reply, my question was deliberately open ended in that I wanted to see what books/resources people thought were must have's for those studying the bible/preaching.. open to hear too from other denominations from myself...
But to answer your question I have L6 Gold package, with BDAG, HALOT, LSJ, AYBD, NA28, Pillar Commentary Series, NIGNT commentary series, Piper Sermon Collection. I'm from an evangelical background but would describe myself as a reformed charismatic. Budget isn't really an issue as I'm looking to see what books I could invest in potentially in the future.

First, let me say that I think that you have already received some excellent advice. Apart from looking at the link provided by Wild Eagle, if you have a few books that you find particularly attractive but know that you are missing, search to see if logos carries those books, and, assuming that they do, then check to see if the books are contained in a collection.
In my case, I was interested in a few specific doctrinal books, and I ended up purchasing a collection that included all of them. A couple of things I purchased in smaller collections. One nice thing about collections, is that they increase the odds that you will have linked references. As an example, i was reading a Doctrine book, originally written in German that was translated into English. The book contains numerous references to "supporting" books that are also in Logos. If I owned a more complete collection, then I would have more of those reference materials.
I would check to provide specific examples, but things went a bit crazy when I upgraded to 6 and a bunch of stuff did not download, so I wiped and reinstalled and it is now downloading a bunch of books so I can't test right now, but it probably does not matter based on your question.
I do not have any specific experience with tracking specific sermon helps (since I don't preach), but consider searching the website. For example, from their web site, I entered "sermon" for a search. One nice thing is that the site then has some suggestions such as "customer's also bought", which can be a great help, especially if you start with something similar that you know that you like.

Paul, I'd recommend obtaining a commentary set that would provide you with more theological balance. NIB is a good one, or the Interpretation series. Looks like you have a solid start, though.
