Moved to new computer - can't find resources

So I went ahead and downloaded everything that it said I needed, restarted, indexed, restarted. And discovered that the missing resources are all still missing. So I went to the ResourceManager/Downloaded folder and discovered that it has 7317 items. These should have been added and moved over to the resources folder, right? Something is obviously very wrong.

Is the only option to delete everything and start over from scratch letting Logos do its downloading without moving any resources over?

I have the same problem. I am running Logos 6 (6.0.1.1328) on Mac 10.10.1 and I followed the instruction on the link: https://wiki.logos.com/Quick_Installation_onto_Multiple_Macs

But when I ran the scan command, completed in 2ms (AppCommand | (2ms) Executing command: AddScanPath|ScanPath=/Volumes/MiniDrive/Logos/Resources) nothing happened.

My local drive is getting full and I'd love to have Logos reading the resource folder from another location, in this case my external drive.

Any suggestions would be great thanks.

So you installed Logos 6 and followed Method 2? L6 installs to \Logos by default. Where did you copy the Logos 5 files to? What Logos folder is in the C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ folder?

My local drive is getting full and I'd love to have Logos reading the resource folder from another location, in this case my external drive.

My understanding is that the only way to make this work would be to have your USER account on the external drive (i.e. boot from that external drive). The scan command isn't a way to change where resources are stored... it is used to find and copy resources to prevent additional (and costly) downloads.

Thats too bad though that user cant specify where the resources are stored, ie. default local or custom path. Considering the library collection will easily grow over time (10+Gig), and for some people the local drive has a limited space.

The folder is "Logos". All the recently downloaded books are also in that folder and they are available in L6. For example, yesterday I got a new Vyrso book and it is available. It's the older resources that haven't been updated for L6 or purchased since I last downloaded books that are not available and L6 seemingly will not scan that folder to identify them. I'm thinking that perhaps if I delete all the resources in the Local\Logos\... folder it will then move over the 7000+ files from the downloaded folder and then I can access everything once it redownloads the newer books.

Move the ResourceManager\Downloaded folder outside the \Logos folder (this is quicker than copying), ensure logging is enabled, use the scan command on the new folder path (e.g. scan C:\Downloaded) and then restart Logos.

Thanks for the suggestion Dave but it didn't do anything. Here's the log when I ordered it to scan:

So I moved the entire Resources folder to C:\ thinking that I would restart it with no resources and try to get the scan to work and NOW it decided to look in the Downloaded folder and is discovering those resources! Once it's done I suppose I'll have to copy back all the files that it already recognized and hope that they are still found.

26 hours and counting for what should be a simple task!

The indexer log would indicate what happened. It's always best to upload the compressed log files folder.

There was no indexer log as it didn't even start.

It's still "Preparing your library" so we'll see what's missing and if it downloads those when it finally starts.

OS X section on wiki page => https://wiki.logos.com/Install_in_different_folder_or_drive#OS_X has steps to relocate Application Support folder. Custom path can be used with a symbolic link.

So for future reference here's what finally worked:

I deleted the Downloaded folder and then renamed the ResourceManager/Resources folder "Downloaded" and then reopened L6 twice and on the second try it looked in Downloaded and began moving them over to its newly recreated Resources folder. INSANE! All my books now seem to be available but its indexing something (but pretty quickly so obviously not the whole).

I think the lesson is that next time I will just start by putting everything in Downloaded instead of Resources and then let it transfer them and know where they are.

The funny thing is that I'm left with a bunch of resources in my downloaded folder that I've never purchased, such as FIRESOMEONETODAY.logos4. I guess I'll just delete them and that will be the ENDOFTHEMATTER.logos4 (true story!)

When you restart Logos after issuing the command the Indexer copies the resources from the named path into Downloaded and begins Discovery under the banner of "Preparing your Library"; which can take some time. Resources are finally copied to the Resources folder and indexing starts.

Method 2 usually requires Discovery, even though the resources are in the Resources folder; hence the use of the scan command at the end. But it does not result in indexing.

If you took part in the Logos 6.0 beta you would have these resources on "loan" until a couple of days ago.

It wasn't scanning then because the resources were there but after preparing my library and opening I got the message that "this resource is no longer available" I don't know what was wrong but it's working now so I'm happy.

I have to agree about Drobo, its an impressive HD, I use 5D for my Time Machine , and it works very well. As for my Faithlife resources, I am using Nifty Drives MiniDrive, great storage expansion for MacBook Pro. If the instructions on the link works, this is where I will store them.
