Bug A11: Layouts not syncing

This conversation started in this thread:http://community.logos.com/forums/t/9462.aspx
The syncing started working again, and now has stopped again. I have already submitted Logs, but will do so again if you would like. Let m know what you want from me. The one additional thing that I have noticed is that when it isn't working, the layouts are sorted in Ascending order, when it is working the layouts are sorted in descending order.
Syncing is working between SR3 and B3 instances with no problem.

H Terry, your symptoms make me suspect an internet connectivity issue. I have no idea how to trouble shoot that, but internet connectivity has been a problem for other users... after all, L4 can't sync when it is not connected. anyway, maybe someone wiser than I can walk you though a way to diagnose the problem. Wish I could be of more immediate help.

Anything is possible Joe, but given that I am the Sr. System Administrator over my companies network, testing that hypothesis shouldn't be too difficult. [:D] I guess it is time to fire up Wire Shark and have some fun.

Wel, you know more than I ever will about that stuff. Please report back if you find something wrong though. I am curious to know the cause of the error.Terry Poperszky said:Joe Miller said:H Terry, your symptoms make me suspect an internet connectivity issue

Ok, that is a negative. Since my MBP is the center of my admin world, I would immediately notice a drop in internet connectivity. And since my L4Win runs in Fusion on that same laptop, a drop in connectivity for the laptop would be noticed there as well as in L4Mac. The one thing that I hadn't checked is access in and out of the corporate firewall, and the only way that would give different results is if Mac and Windows used different protocols to sync with and the firewall didn't like the Mac one.
So, I logged on to my vpn and routed all external traffic through the corporate firewall and L4MacA11 and L4B3 synced layout changes with no problem. I then when to my wife's L3SR3 installation which would have been outside of my corporate network and changes on it, synced with both L4Mac and L4Win. The only thing that I can't check is if Logos is using a load balancing or round robin set up on their syncing servers. If they are, I could be having problems with one, but not the one I am currently connected to.

And hear I went to great lengths to keep it non technical and at a very low level. [:D] You know the really bad thing? To often that is how we sound to non-christians as we try to explain the gospel. Then we wonder why their head explodes and they run down the street screaming.
BTW, don't feel too bad, I couldn't write a book if my life depended on it, and black on white is my idea of a colorful web page. And I understand you do quite well in both of those areas.[:)]
