No matter what view I take, I can't get the New American Bible footnotes to show on screen in L6. (They also don't show on my Android.) Is there something different with this resource or am I doing something wrong?
You're a regular, so I assume you don't have Bible Text Only checked.
That is correct, though I did play around with it to see if it helped any (it didn't). To clarify, the * and #'s for the footnotes show, and I can mouseover or click them to see them, but with as many notes as the NAB has I'd like to have them all shown on the screen instead of having to click each one.
I do understand what you want but I am not sure that is possible. As an example Psalm 28:2
2 Hear the sound of my pleading when I cry to you for help
when I lift up my hands toward your holy place.*c
But you would like something like???:
when I lift up my hands toward your holy place.*[Your holy place: the innermost part of the Temple, the holy of holies, containing the ark, cf. 1 Kgs 6:16, 19–23; 8:6–8.] c[Ps 134:2]
I have seen older bible software that would do this but I personally would find it a bit distracting unless I was possibly able to set the note colour to different than the Bible text.

What I'd like is to be able to read the version's extensive notes without having to click on all of them, like can be done in the print edition and with many other Logos books.
I just cycled through all my Bible to see how they display notes in full screen mode. There's quite a bit of variation in implementation. Most show all notes with any kind of text in them but not ones with only plain verse cross references. Some like the LEB show * notes only in pop-ups but others in footnotes; the HCSB also shows * notes. But the NAB shows nothing.
Verbum 6.0a SR-2 displays for me if i hover over without clicking for me is this not functioning for you?

Yes, they work like that. What I want is for them to display as footnotes (or anywhere, really) without clicking or hovering like most books do if you have the "Show footnotes on page" option selected. Like this from the HCSB:
In other words, I want to be able to read this book, including the notes, hands-free like I can most others except for turning the page.
So, it looks like this is something I have to add to my growing list of "simple things Logos should be able to do but surprisingly doesn't that you just have to deal with."
I don't have this resource, so can't check, but what gets displayed if you have a "Power Lookup" panel open?
Thanks for your suggestion, Graham! This gets me halfway. It does display the notes in the power lookup, although not as usefully for my purposes as having them as footnotes in fullscreen view would. (Given the length of some of the notes, it does require some manual adjustment to the scrolling to ensure some don't get skipped by paging down, but at least it eliminates the constant mousework.)
Sean,
I have the same problem as you with the NAB:RE not showing the footnotes/comments as I would expect in the Reading Mode. In Reading Mode, using Logos 6 on Windows 7 (64-bit), I found the following (see list below) based on the various Bible resources in my library.
By the way, I also found that the NAB:RE does not 'work' properly in the iOS Bible App, but the KJV, NASB, Amplified, and a few others I checked display the footnotes as I would expect.

Thank you. There is an issue with this resource that prevents this feature from identifying the footnote references. I've filed a case for our book designers.
Oh wow. Thanks!
So, an update for the NABRE just came through. AFAICT no change in this display problem. Was it deemed not important enough to fix [yet]?
I'm not sure why it wasn't fixed; I'll ask the team.
There was no good reason that the asterisk notes weren't also updated other than the update pushed out last week was a completely unrelated issue and we missed the opportunity to take care of this at the same time.
I did however make the necessary changes to NABRE to resolve the note display in reading view issue. The update should be pushed out next week.

I just got the update, and the reading view now seems to work exactly as it should. Thank you for attending to this.
