New to Logos and have finally created my first personal book but I cannot figure out how to attach it to a Bible reference. I go to documents and don't see it as an option.
Sorry this sound so elementary but I'm just not getting it.
I cannot figure out how to attach it to a Bible reference.
What type of book have you created - Bible? Commentary? Bible Notes? Do you want to use it in a Passage Guide or other Guide, because you don't "attach" it to a reference. Do you want to link it to another resource so they scroll together?
You may find an answer in this wiki
It's just a couple pages of notes I took from an old study on Heb. 6. In trying to learn to create a personal book I thought I would begin with just these few pages to see how it works. Worked fine but I next wanted to attach that "book" to the Heb. 6 reference in my ESVFAITH for future access. That's where I got kinda lost.
as a pastor for several years I'm hoping to take my years of sermons and create a personal book ( probably by series). But I'm hoping to be able to connect these messages with various references in my Lodos ESV for future access. As I mentioned I'm very new to all this and am very open to advice/suggestions from others if there's a better way to go about doing all this. I'm in my 60's and just trying to keep up with the technology available.
thanks
For clarification: it sounds like you are wanting to hover over a reference (I.e. John 3:16) and then see the note you created in your personal book. Is that right? If so, you have confused "personal books" with "notes attached by reference."
you can tag personal books, but you will find these by performing a search, not by having a note indicator pop up.
You could set up your Personal Book as type Bible Commentary and put in milestones for the Bible references that the notes in it are supposed to go with. Then you can link your Personal Book with your Bible the same way you can link a commentary with it, so that they scroll together as you jump to different verse references. For now with just notes on Heb 6 this won't be very impressive, but once you fill out your years of messages that are related to Scripture texts, you'll be able to scroll your PB alongside your Bible and see the relevant messages.
Another option would be to put your PB into a collection that will show up when you do a Passage Guide. That way your PG will help you find relevant messages from your years of preaching when you're looking up Scripture references.

The key as Rosie stated is to use bible Milestones with each passage for which you have notes e.g.
Matthew 5
[[@Bible:Matt 5:9]] 9 “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
peacemakers = those who disinterestedly come between two contending parties and try to make peace. These God calls His sons because they are like Him.
[[@Bible:Matt 5:10]] 10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
------> the milestones [[@Bible:Matt 5:9]] etc. will align your comment to the same verse in your bible (they don't appear in the text of your book).
AND
compile it as Bible Notes or Bible Commentary:-
