Question / Bug: Notes behavior

I have a question about behavior I'm seeing using notes in L6 (6.0a SR4, though I saw it in SR3 too; Windows 7).

I created a new notes file. From the ESV, I highlighted the word "planted" in Psalm 1:3, picked "selection" from the right-click menu, and added that as a note to the new note file. When I click on the highlight style (yellow square) in the new note, I see this:

Issue #1 - Originally, "Highlight with note color" was selected. When I clicked "No highlight," there was no indication that my selection was accepted - particularly, that popup was not dismissed. I had to click elsewhere to dismiss the popup and then re-open it to verify that it had accepted my selection. That needs corrected.

Next, I selected Psalm 19:14 and picked "Reference" from the right-click menu, then added that to the new note file (which at that point contained two notes). I wanted to check the highlighting style, and I saw this:

Issue #2 - Why is this different from the first popup? And why is there not an explicit "No highlight" as there is in the first popup? I understand that the notes are in some respect different (selection vs reference), but this doesn't seem to be a reasonable or intuitive side effect of such a difference. With this popup, I don't know how to ensure that I'm getting the "No highlight" style.

Issue #3 - I had been wondering if there was a way to set "No highlight" as the default. I saw the bottom entry on these popups. So, on the first one (since it had the explicit "No highlight" entry), I clicked "Used this style by default." As with issue #1, there was no feedback that my "click" had been accepted. The popup didn't dismiss, and as far as I could tell nothing on the popup changed. I get that the paradigm is one that doesn't have explicit "Save" or "OK" buttons, but we need some kind of feedback that Logos "got it."

This behaviour is unchanged from v5.2b. There is no text to highlight with annotations "by reference".

That is what I get after the note is created, without clicking anything, I think you are clicking the "note indicator" or "note color" and this doesn't change the selection of "Highlight with note color". By "originally" do you mean in 5.2b?

This is what I assumed you had done previously. When I selected "No highlight" and clicked "Used this style by default." the next annotation used that setting. When i selected the "Highlight with note color" in another annotation and clicked "Used this style by default." then that was applied to my next notes.

There is no text to highlight with annotations "by reference".

I think this comment answers most of my questions. In short, the first popup is for selecting two things - the notes marker and the highlight style. Highlight style is not applicable to a reference note. I will maintain my point that what's expected of the user is not intuitive, especially in that first popup.

No. By "originally" I meant the highlight style that had been applied to the note before I clicked to display that first popup. I wanted to change from "Highlight with note color" to "No highlighting."

This is insufficient. There have been times when I've had to go through a bunch of notes in a notes file, each based on references/selections in different resources, to fix something like highlight style. I suspect that the reason that the popup doesn't dismiss is because you can make multiple changes in those single popups.

Nevertheless, I will reiterate my overarching point which is that there need to be clear feedback mechanisms indicating to the user that Logos recognizes that a change has been specified / selected.
