I have. The issue at hand has nothing to do with conquering--especially in light of an exegesis of Revelation.
You're right, we should not argue theology here, but recognize that you've turned Logos' development policies into a theological issue with your statement.

I would love to see Logos remove the crippling and artificial restraint on getting any of my work out of the bits and bytes and into the real world.

I must admit to this : I Love Logos. It is hands down the best software aide to the study of the Word that there is. I work with 3 LARGE screens opened to all the corners of the word. Logos has some totally amazing features: the highlighting and the search, well they are so so so good. The ability to tag verses by subject and then have Logos do all the work for you and keep them organized is incredible. And with each iteration it just gets better and better, and the competition is just in another ballpark altogether, power wise.
And then they go and shoot it in the head. On purpose. Maybe they just do not know what they did? But I think they know what they are doing.

Charles .... Bradley (Logos) threw you a bone. He normally gives some sort of rationalization. With any luck, in a new future update, they'll take a pass on the personal book export limitation.
Then we'll all benefit. And you'll get back to work doing the Lord's business. Logosians like to toss bait out.

Hello again Denise. Thanks for writing...problem is in January of this year I raised the SAME thing and was given the SAME run around. Now, after a whole new release, they still can't "Fix " this? And i saw other people very politely saying " please sir can we print, like the rest of the planet can" and the response from Logos is since version 4 printing is closed and done.

I think a better analogy would be that you buy a car, and the car is theoretically capable of going 180 mph; however, the manufacturer limits the speed in the computer to 120 mph in order to encourage the owner to follow speed and safety laws.
I would also say that you seem to be angry because in your mind, one of the MAIN features of Logos is printing books. I don't see it that way, but I understand why Logos seems at odds with your perception of what Logos is. I would say that it is not one of the major functions, evidenced by the fact that when Logos 4 came out, one could not even print from it at all.

Biblical studies research? Again, I am not saying that I agree with the 100 page limit, but it just isn't that big of a deal to me. I use Logos because it is a digital format, and I personally see it as counterproductive to then print out large amounts of books.

Now, why would one want to do such research?
I'm trying to understand why it appears that I am the only one complaining about this thing. Seems that for the most part, people using Logos are just doing research for research sake. There are no fruits of that research. I will insist on sharing, with others, the results of my research work done within Logos.
Otherwise, if it is all just smoke and daggers, hey there are TRULY better ways to pass the time.

Charles, in what world does doing biblical studies research REQUIRE printing off your books? That is the whole point of the software--to digitize books so that you don't have to deal with print versions. I do print sections from time to time, and if I need to print off more than 100 pages, I just combine the documents in Acrobat.

I think you'll find that a lot of us use Logos for preparing sermons, teaching, researching academic papers or dissertations, and so on, and that those who are writing books are doing it outside of Logos using things like Scrivener which are designed for that purpose. The primary purpose of the PBB function is to bring resources from outside Logos into the library, not to provide printed output. I avoid printing output at all costs, and have never printed anything longer than a journal article out of Logos in the six years or so I've been a user. The beauty of Logos to me is that I can carry several thousand books around on my laptop and always have access to them: I also have those I'm currently using on my iPad as well, so short-term power cuts don't restrict my access to them.
There are lots of ways of sharing the fruits of research: sermons, Bible Studies, papers, books, presentations, lectures, seminars, and so on - for most of us that simply doesn't involve needing to print out large chunks of resources. It also doesn't generally require us to print out a whole lot of highlighting.

Entirely serious, as you seem to be too. I'm not aware of anything that I could do on my computer using a .pdf that I couldn't do in Verbum/Logos, but there are lots of things that I can do in Verbum/Logos that I can't do with a .pdf. If you want to print the .pdf out on paper, and that, unless there's something very important that no one including you has mentioned yet, can still be done without much extra difficulty or time even with the present 100 page limit. If you want to use the .pdf on your computer, well, I don't understand why.

Possibly an alternative during power outages is using a mobile device that has digital resources licensed for your personal use with your highlighting using a battery that lasts for hours. For example, an iPad has a battery that lasts hours along with external battery options. When power is restored, then your highlighting added in mobile device can sync with your other Logos installations. Also when power is restored, charge batteries.
Thankful for Logos licensing that allows one user to personally use many devices.

Charles, I don't know if you're still around after all your "borderline POLICE STATE" ranting and wanting a refund and all, but if you are, guess what? Logos listened to you and they've already fixed this limitation, just a little over a month after you first raised the issue!

It's in 6.1 Beta 1, so it hasn't been released yet, it's just available for beta testing for now. But it'll be coming soon to the stable channel, probably within a few weeks of testing.
I thought you should take heart that users with complaints do get listened to. Sorry you had to elevate your complaints to such a dramatic level and still didn't feel like you were being heard. But I hope you are still around and can benefit from this change.

However, Logos purpose isn't to allow you to print books. Their purpose is to allow you to study the bible. Happy you are making use of their PB feature to make your own original works. However you could have gotten the software for free and been able to use that.
All of which is irrelevant I suppose now that the limitation is lifted on personal books.

Thanks to all who notified me of the change. I have resorted to other software, where the goal behind the software is more spiritual rather than so academic.
And the Logos move , can print more than 100 pages of personal books, still does not help!!!
I clearly remember actually asking my Father to inspire the Logos people to create a jacked up markup system! He listened, and they did. The markup system in Logos is fantastic.
So, now, as every true seeker knows, when I make markings in my bible they are no longer permanent but reflect my current status regarding my spiritual growth. Eg my first bible had every occurrence of the word "baptism" marked up in bright colors as I grappled to find the truth regarding baptism. This is now years behind me, so the word baptism in my bible can just appear in plain text. The only way in the past to do this was to keep changing bibles. AND laboriously carrying forward marking that I still valued.
I thought, at LAST, all is fixed. I can study online in Logos in my bible of choice and keep evolving and moving forward the markings. Then occasionally PRINT OUT the marked up bible and stick it in some kind of ring binder, and carry my marked up bible to church, camp etc.
SADLY, the RULES still KILL the best that Logos has to offer.
If I have a fully marked up ESV bible, I still can't print it.
And if you believe that they wont one day switch off all electronic access - then you are so so wrong.0 -
