Intel Iris Graphics vs. Iris Pro vs. Nvidia

I'm looking to switch from a PC to a Mac at the same time I upgrade to Logos 6. On the Macbook Pro's there is a huge price difference between those with Iris Graphics and the Nvidia card. I've called Logos a couple different times and no one seems to be able to tell me if the Iris or Iris Pro graphics are recommended for Logos 6. What I am looking for is better performance than I currently have with my PC Laptop with its dedicated 512MB ATI Radeon card. Actually, if I'm going to spend $1500-$2k on a Macbook, I'd like it to perform much, much better.

That said, the price difference between Iris and Nvidia is about $500. That's a big difference for which I cannot find any information regarding how it will affect Logos 6 performance.

Anyone running Iris or Iris pro graphics with Logos 6? Is it fast? Is the $500 extra for the 2GB Nvidia card worth it??

This review might help but I've got a laptop with an ancient ATI HD 5650 and Logos 6 performs just fine @ 1366 x 768. Higher resolution will demand more from a video card but I doubt that today's NVidia/ATI would fall short in any way for Logos 6.

I would add that I have an Intel i3 (Ivy bridge) Windows-based laptop with integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics and have no issue with Logos 6. It was $500 when I bought it 18 months ago. (Not the most expensive, not the cheapest.) If graphics performance for Logos is your only criteria I think you will be satisfied with Intel Iris Pro integrated graphics. If Logos 6 is what concerns you the most - if you are just driving one screen, the way Logos works the speed difference is imperceptible.

Logos 6 runs great on my rMBP with Iris on-board graphics.

Discrete graphics cards are less and less of a critical need, unless one is really into high-end gaming or other video-based applications.

Logos will be helped most by a good processor and lots of RAM, not to mention a solid state drive (standard on all rMBPs). Your money is better spent on a RAM upgrade (at least 16 GB total), in my humble opinion. Having only 8 GB of RAM in my laptop is my biggest regret!

I run L6 on a Win 8.1 touchscreen laptop. It has a core i7, 8gb RAM, 256gb SSD, and the Iris onboard graphics. I've been very pleased with its performance, though to be fair it's not my main L6 machine.

I think you'll be satisfied if not very pleased with the onboard graphics. CPU, RAM, and especially SSD are more important.

Having only 8 GB of RAM in my laptop is my biggest regret!

Is that due to running several programs at once or does the extra ram benefit Logos (especially search speed)? I use a 2013 RMBP with an I5 and 8gb of Ram (Integrated graphics). Logos runs great on this laptop however searches are significant slower than on a slightly lower specked windows laptop (surface pro 3). For normal searches the difference is only a second or two.
