Unexpected "feature" after installing Logos 5

I decided to finally start migrating to Windows 7 so I got another hard drive and installed it as a dual boot with XP on it's own hard drive and Win-7 on the second one. After a few days of trying to tweak win7 to be as much like XP as I could I then (just an hour ago) installed Logos 5 into the Windows 7 OS. When it was all done I was shocked to see that it had loaded my exact desktop (layout) that I had left when I closed L4 in XP.

Then I closed all the resources but one Bible and closed L5, closed Win-7 and booted into XP and opened L4 to see that it was just as I had left it in L5 with only one Bible open.

How in the world is this happening?!?!

What will happen if I uninstall L4 on XP which is what I was planning on doing???

Unless you tell it not to, Logos stores personal data, including layouts, to the 'cloud'. So when you open Logos on another computer that data is downloaded and you can start where you left off on the other one.

Uninstalling L4 should have no effect on this, since it's all synced to the Logos servers (AKA, 'the cloud').

I knew my licenses and resources were synced but I did not know EVERYTHING was. I'm relieved to hear this. LOL

I'm not as paranoid about the "cloud" as some are. I use Drop Box and I just set up Firefox sync BUT a few minutes after setting up a Firefox sync over the cloud I got a phishing scam email and it made me wonder - but it was probably a coinkydink.

That's not too difficult but don't use Compatibility mode settings to run Logos 5

In Program Settings you'll probably find the Startup option (At Startup open to) is "Most recent - any" If you want to restrict the layout to the one that L5 saves on Exit change it to Most recent - local, and also check what Logos 4 does on Startup.

Thanks, I'll do that for my laptop.

I'm glad I upgraded my computer, Logos 4 now loads in 6-7 seconds. It use to take so long that I did not want to use it and was sticking to Libronix for just wanting to look up passages or do a simple search. Now Libronix and L4 load in the same time in in XP, I'll test it in Win-7 shortly but I dont expect much difference on the same machine but I let you know if it's much different.

L5 loads in 4-5 seconds in Win-7.

Closer to 4 on repeated launches.

Win 7 overall is slightly slower than Win XP and Win 8 is impressively faster than Win 7 (at least as fast as Win XP!)
