Mouse over pop ups of scripture verses.

What I'm looking for is a program where I can mouse over a scripture verse in Word, and have a pop-up box that shows me what the verse says. It would be even the better if I could edit what the verse says in order to make the verse even more understandable to those who have trouble understanding what the scriptures say.

I have Windows 7, MS Word 2000, and use the Google Chrome Web browser.

I have no interest in using it in either a blog or a website, only Word, nor spending our limited Social inSecurity income on Logos software, esp. when I only need mouse over pop up boxes.

I already have two awesome Bible s/w packages, one is FREE (theWORD), and the other is the Deluxe Library version of SwordSearcher 7.1 (but if you want the NASB Bible included, it cost about $35 or so if I remember correctly).

(If Reftagger can work for WordPress, why can't it be made to work for Microsoft Word?

If it is compatible with Word, where can I find documented instructions for incorporating Reftagger - or anything comparable - into my Word document?)

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Reftagger does not work with Word or any other word processor, as far as I know. (I am not knowledgeable enough to say why it can't work.)

I'm not aware of anything else that can do that either, though it is possible, I suppose.

Logos has a COM API => https://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4_COM_API so Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) could be written to Copy Bible Verses for pop-up display with option to insert into document. Microsoft has VBA examples for inserting text into Word 2000 => http://support.microsoft.com/kb/212682

Logos wiki has => https://wiki.logos.com/Copy_Bible_Verses that has similar tools in TheWord and SwordSearcher so can copy reference from Word 2000, switch to Bible program, paste reference, use Copy Bible Verse to copy formatted verse(s), switch back to Word 2000 followed by pasting.

By the way, LibreOffice is free, which supports newer docx format => https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/

Apologies: both packages lack the ability to combine hundreds of searches for simultaneous display. My favorite Logos feature is visual filter highlighting so can see range of Greek verbal expression in Greek, English, and Spanish. Morris, what you want can be done but you are really trying to mix 2 incompatible concepts. Mouse-over functions are for interactive environments such as the web or applications; Microsoft Word is designed for creating static documents for reading, printing, etc. There may well be a Visual Basic macro that already does what you want. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us#Office would be the place to start looking for such a macro.

InstaVerse claims to display scripture references in Word documents. I have limited experience with it but if I remember correctly it was a bit clunky and unreliable. May be worth a shot. Google "InstaVerse" (it is tied to Wordsearch).

I'll start looking at the website you mentioned for a macro that works. I hope I don't have to learn Visual Basic in the process.

Thank you for your reply. Since these have been busy holiday times, I haven't been able to answer sooner. In the Google search box I typed "Google InstaVerse". From the website options that appeared, I downloaded InstaVerse 1.1, went into the Word document, placed the cursor I-beam at the beginning of the verse abbreviation, pressed shortcut keys Alt-F8 and then the text of the verse appeared in-line with the body of the text of the document that had been previously written. Then to get back to the text of the original document I pressed Ctrl-Z in order to return the Word document back to its previous state. As you said in your reply, that procedure was a bit clunky, but it's a workaround that I can work with until I find the pop-up window solution that I was looking for.
