BUG: Usability of new resource - and I was so excited it had arrived. AKA Not again

So I go to use it - thrilled that its a single volume which solves one dead tree format usability issue. And I get started:

Surprise - mouse over does not translate the bold numbers, click does not link you to them. Well, since I know the book I know to go to the back where I usually keep one finger while I reading elsewhere.

So I turn on the table of contents, go to the back, expand the doctrinal index and of course there is no indication of the numbers...

I have to go scrolling through to find the right number And don't tell me to use the find or inline search - too many occurrences of numbers with multiple meanings ...

Oh goodie I found one!!!

Excuse me but I find this truth self-evident: A major motivation for purchasing a Logos/Verbum resource to replace a well-worn favorite dead-tree format resource is the linking ... finally being free of the 3 volume, 2 finger nature of the book. To have the primary value of the book - the doctrinal index - still a multi-finger task, loose your place task is unacceptable. At least the links from the doctrinal index to the excerpts work.

Please link the bold numbers to the doctrinal index ASAP.

If you try you will find that Inline search finds all instances of those doctrinal numbers except the doctrinal statement in the index - which (since the filtered view of Inline Search makes much sense for easily navigating all relevant hits) makes this feature utterly useless. [:(]

Ctrl-F works - and since it does find punctuation, and the doctrinal index numbers are followed by a period, this is probably the fastest way to go.

Actually I had contemplated to cancel this prepub since - as many others - I have many of the texts in two or more editions in my Logos already. The link from Church Fathers to doctrinal statements was my motivation to buy this!

I use Jurgens specifically for the indexing not for the texts where I often want additional detail. Done right i.e. the doctrinal index topics tied into the Catholic Topical Index and the Topics/Theological vocabulary lists, this would be an ultra-valuable Logos/Verbum resource.

I reported similar challenges in another very recently-released resource. See:

In that thread I suggested that Faithlife / Logos come up with a way to beta test new resources before they are released so that these types of issues are found earlier and the consistency of new releases is significantly better.

I reiterate that suggestion.

Not disagreeing, Donnie, though one has to be patient, given that the Logos user at Logos is often tied up.

Being eminently lazy, I'd have simply run it through a script looking for unattached mouse-overs, classing the ref-type and then computing the percentage. But I'm unbelievably lazy. I get so mad at myself later, when I find my errors in my parsing. 'Didn't you CHECK?!'
