Android app slow scrolling.

Scrolling on my phone is painfully slow. Not trying to be rude, when I switch back and forth between this app and the youversion Bible app it's night and day. Even when I download the resource it doesn't seem to help. Is there any way I can speed it up. I have experienced this on a nexus 5 and 6 so I don't think it is the device.
