Logos crashing on startup

Logos V4 crashes on startup. I tried the CTRL fix with the blank layout, but it crashes after that.
Attached is the log, please let me know if you find anything, I'm without the software till this gets fixed.
Thanks,0143.logos4setup.log

That log is from 5 January and only tells me that you are/were on 4.0a SR-2
Please enclose recent logs like logos4.log that will show what is happening.
I presume it was working OK, so what event started the crashing.
Have you tried updating to SR-3?

That's weird, not sure how that happened. Thanks for letting me know.
Here's the current log...

It seems to be crashing when it is accessing your note files database. This is located at C:\Users\Zach\AppData\Local\Logos4\Documents\isiriwkd.t3w\Documents\Notes\notes.db
If you change the name of this database file to something else (perhaps notes.dbo), and then try to restart Logos, perhaps it would get around this problem. Of course it doesn't solve the problem of what might be wrong with the notes database. I don't know if it will try to generate a new database file. If it does you may be out of the woods.
You will still have your renamed file available so you can undo this test if it doesn't do any good.
If you do this and it crashes, send the new crash log.

Sorry Mark, but babyhopper is running 4.0 SR-7 (4.0.3.3272). Updating to the latest version might remove the database error which suggests L4 is running old code!

Good catch. The error was curious in citing "The database schema (11) is newer than the latest schema recognized by this code (9)" so your conclusion seems quite probable. But why would running the older version software create a problem? It would seem that it ought to be consistent with itself. If I traded databases from a newer version I wouldn't be surprised to have problems. Maybe I misunderstand.

So I was able to update...
All went well. After updating, it said it needed to restart.
The restart went fine.
Then it needed to index, so it did for an hour or so, no problem.
Then I got curious and just restarted after everything was done.
***CRASH***
Weird.

I tried renaming the database to .old, but still crashing.
Here's the log after the database name change...

Zach,
Both the log files indicate that you are still running the 4.0 SR-7 software, not 4.0a SR-3. Did you run "Update Now" from the command line? If so are you sure it completed and you sent the right files?
If you didn't do this, please do so.

I surmise (guess) that a new database schema was introduced with 4.0a and it is used by the external sync server. Document (eg. notes) downloads can be stored locally but v4.0 can't read it!

I had a problem with L4 crashing after displaying a splash screen. the "weird" thing was that the problem would go away on it's own after a few hours, maybe a day. Called Tech support a few times. After spending a cumulative 4 hours on the phone (most of it on hold) we still could not diagnose the cause. Finally I was able to figure it out by plugging in my phone while L4 was running. CRASH! Even to this day it crashes if my phone is plugged in, but as soon as I remove the phone cord everything works fine. I can live with that.
Is it possible that there is some kind of USB or other port sharing issue on your machine?

Mark I'm unfamiliar with what you're asking me to do. How do I update to the newest version? I already ran the Logos4Setup.exe, and that got me to where I was last night.

Zach,
Any software having mysterious problems usually can be fixed with a clean install.
To do that, first uninstall from the control panel. Then re-boot. Then delete any directories left on the PC. Then use regedit to delete any traces of the program in the registry.
Then re-install. Sometimes the directories and/or the registry get erroneous information which is very hard to correct.
By the way, all the directories on the PC are under \Logos4 in \Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Application Data for Windows XP.

Before you do anything let's confirm the version of Logos 4 you are running.
Go to the question mark inside the circle in the upper right hand side of Logos and click on that.
On the drop-down menu, click on "About Logos Bible Software." Record the version number including the digits inside the parentheses when the new information window opens.
The latest software version is 4.0a SR-3 (4.0.1.3.5180) as seen below. Check to see if your version is the same, if not then send the version information you wrote down to us in another posting here.

Mark, I can't even get the program running. It crashes before I can get it open.

You've installed, reinstalled, done some indexing, and are still getting crashes on start-up. I think with the number of things you've tried and the entries on the log files that we are unsure of that you need to give Tech Support a call tomorrow. Someone needs to help you assess what is actually wrong rather than give you a few more things to try. Except for a complete program removal and reinstall with the latest version, I have no other suggestions, and you've tried that once already.
Yours is not a typical case. Sorry we couldn't get this straightened out. Let us know when you finally get up and running.

I know from experience how frustrating it can be when Logos crashes on starting...out of the blue a week or two ago, Logos started crashing for me. In my case, I isolated it to the Home page...now I start without the Home page & don't go back to it (that crashes Logos).
You may be having a different problem, but if you can get to this screen (press and hold CTRL, click on Logos to launch it from Windows, then release CTRL once you see this screen), then try selecting "use blank layout" and see if Logos will start. I hope it helps/avoid the tech support call.

Ward, in the OP's first post he mentioned he'd tried this very thing and it did not work. It is a good thing to know but it seems in this case it ddin't help.

Did you install with Logos4Setup.exe from the web? What was the exact command you used? Or did you install from a DVD?
What is in the \Resources and \LibraryIndex folders under C:\Users\Zach\AppData\Local\Logos4\Data\isiriwkd.t3w?

Yes Dave, I ran the setup from the web, and my folders match what you have written.
Thanks everyone for the help, I really appriciate your service. I'll check with T2 tech support and see what they can do.
I suspect I'll have to do a reinstall, but first make sure every trace of the program is gone.
Thanks again,
~Zach

Oops...don't know how I missed that.
I recall a forum with a user that experienced a tough time with a corrupted install, and after a lot of trying he was succesful in using a special software program to completely remove the Logos install, and that let him re-install successfully. It's one of the darker threads in the forum, but perhaps his method may be helpful to you: http://community.logos.com/forums/t/8337.aspx?PageIndex=6 you'll have to read around a little since hissolution isn't completely captured in any one spot.
