Adding Notes to Text

At present, when making notes on a particular book of the bible, I've just been setting up "notes files" for each chapter and then copying/pasting sections or typing my own notes.  I also highlight the text of the resource, which reminds me that I've probably made notes on it somewhere.  However, today I was reading a resource and I would prefer, rather than making a note in a separate file to make a note which is attached to the resource itself, and which I could see by floating over the highlighted text.  Is that possible in Logos 6?

Yes, indeed! That is now Notes files are designed to work. They are merely holding places for the notes that are attached to your resources. You can of course (as you've discovered) use Add Note to add your own unattached notes into the file, but most people use them for attached notes. So here's how:

Make sure that Notes file which you have associated with this book of the Bible is open (or is the most recently open Notes file).

Select the text in your Bible that you want to attach the note to. This is to set it up as a selected portion of text (several verses or a part of a verse, or a single word) in a specific translation of the Bible. Or if you want to attach it to a particular verse across ALL your Bible translations, then just right click on the verse number or anywhere within that verse, with or without having made any prior selection.

If you want it to be a version-specific note, then make sure the SELECTION tab is chosen in the right-click menu:

If you want it to be attached to that verse in ALL of your Bibles, then choose the REFERENCE tab:

Then choose Add a note to "Name of note file" (it's down on the lower left in Logos 6, but it was on the right in L5 if you're still using that).
