Notes in Logos 6

I am having difficulty with Notes.

WHen I highlight a text, I click on the reference item that comes up in the right click menu. But from there, I do not get "add a new note". I only get add a note to the last note that I had written.. it's a real pain to try to add new notes. Why don't I get the menu item "add a new note"?

Do you get something like in the screenshot below - see red outlined area?

This enables you to add a new note to the last notes document you had open.

If you have multiple notes documents open when trying to add a note you will get the choice of which notes document to use.

Are you seeing something like this or something different?

Yes, exactly. BUt I wouldn't want to add a note to "Beta test" I want "add a new note" or untitlted note". In the instructional video on notes, they show the option of adding a new note.

I just want to clarify some terminology - I think what you are saying is that you want to be able to choose which notes document you add a note to or that you want to create a new notes document and add a note to it. Is that correct?

(Notes and held in Notes Documents and I just wanted to be sure we were talking about the same thing

There have been a number of requests for this functionality but it isn't there in the product - and it has been this way for some time

In the instructional video on notes, they show the option of adding a new note.

Please provide a link to the video and roughly where this appears. I would like to understand what it is saying

To add some how-to to Grahams answer:

go to Documents. The left-hand-side will give you opportunity to open new documents: select Notes
a new Notes document will open in a tab with an automated title. You can edit this to give it a name you can remember (e.g. Notes on James, when your idea is to have a separate set of notes per bible book and you just started with James). It's you choice if you leave the tab open or close it.
Now when you do the same you described above, Logos will present your new notes document as one option

You would not have a seperate new document for each individual note, this makes no sense. A large number of notes may be kept in one file. But when you envision thousands of notes, it may become unwieldy or slow down Logos processing performance.

As long as you are fine with the notes stored in that document, all is set. Should you want a new one (e.g. you go per bible books and now study Hebrews), repeat the steps above.

Should you want Logos to present you an existing notes documents, then go to Documents and select it from the notes documents on the right-hand-side

Ahh, okay, I knew there had to be an answer. That is why in the instructional video an "untitled note" sows in the menu. It was prepared ahead of time. That small detail should have been mentioned in the instructions. Thanks Mick. Nailed it.
