Problem: Please Fix Custom Passage Guide & Custom Exgetical Guide

I'm having a bit of a problem here with a some custom guides that I've created. I have a custom Passage Guide and a custom Exegetical Guide.

I set them up and added or deleted the sections I want to include or exclude in each guide. Then I saved my layout. (I have several, by the way). Then I used another layout for a couple of minutes and switched back to my saved layout with my custom guides.

The problem is that some of the sections I excluded from my custom Passage Guide keep coming back. And some of the sections I excluded from my custom Exegetical Guide also keep coming back.

AND the sections that are there don't stay in the order that I placed them (which happens to be in alphabetical order).

I would like my custom Passage Guide to include things of a general nature like Commentaries, Topics, PowerPointSermons.com, SermonAudio.com, SermonCentral.com, My Content, etc.

Then I would like my custom Exegetical Guide to have more specific things like Biblical People, Biblical Places, Biblical Things, Compare Versions, Cross References, Grammars, Interesting Words, Literary Typing, and Visualizations.

Any help that anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

PS: I'm running Logos 4 - version 4.0a SR-3 (4.01.3.5180) on a 32 bit Windows XP Pro machine. I'm running an Intel Core 2 Duo (E8500) @ 3.16 Ghz. I have 2 gigs of Ram (system memory) running in dual channel mode. I have an Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT w/ 512 MB memory

I've not had this problem so I'd ask:

1) What did you name your custom guides when you saved them?

2) What were the names of the guides when you made the layout?

What I'm wondering is if you modified the guide but did not save it under a name so that the default keeps reappearing.

Hello MJ,

I named my custom Passage Guide "My Passage Guide" and I named my custom Exegetical Guide "My Exegetical Guide". First I created the Passage Guide and excluded all of the sections I don't want to see there and then I don't know how to save it after that. There's nothing to click on that says "save", so I assumed that it just auto-saves when you close it.

AND it does, for the most part, because most (but not all) of the sections I excluded keep reappearing in my custom Passage Guide; like Cross-References, Parallel Passages, Biblical Places, People and Things, Interesting Words. I want those things in my custom Exegetical Guide.

Anyway, after I created both of the custom Guides I checked to see if they appear under Guides at the top of the Logos 4 window (and they do). Then I created a new layout with those custom guides on the screen in L4, and saved it by naming it and clicking enter.

Well, hopefully I didn't do it wrong or miss a step, but if I did please let me know.

It sounds like you did everything correctly - and that your custom guides should always be the default even if the layout was picking up the default. I would report the sections that reappear as a bug ... list all that you tried to exclude and then those that reappeared. Wish I could be more help.
