How to stop involvement in Beta updates

I unwisely went on to beta updates in the last month without thinking it through. I have observed Todd's paragraph:

"Logos Betas cannot be downgraded to a stable release. You will need to uninstall, delete all Logos folders, then reinstall the stable release if you no longer wish to run a Logos Beta."

So to make sure I do this correctly, do I delete all the folders below (apart from the PBB Logs)?

and then what? Restart Logos?

No, the folders you just contain log files not the actual Logos installation.

Please note this would then involve downloading all your resources again.

Can I ask why you want to make this change now as opposed to coming off the beta program when the next version is released to everyone?

I changed the wiki to emphasise that you must delete the \Logos (or \Logos5 or \Logos4) folder at C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\ in order to completely remove Logos. Then you can safely install the stable version.

thanks for your help here. I understand that the beta programme has risks and therefore is unwise to use it as your primary Logos software.

Todd's warning - "We recommend installing Logos betas only on a dedicated testing machine."

I don't have that possibility nor the ability. And doing so has made me nervous since I work under pressure and use Logos daily.

Graham mentioned waiting to come off the programme "When the next version is released"

Lightbulb moment here - So do you come off the beta testing when the stable version is released and return to "normal/stable"; i.e. that I am not "stuck" on the continual beta updates. Or to put it another way, "do you have to set it for beta downloads with each new test cycle?

So if I wait for the next version I get back to being on stable until I decide to go on to beta version again? (which I wont!).

I am sounding like a beginner here but may-be others can be more aware of what's involved my your answers.

Once the beta becomes the release version of the software, use the Set Update Channel to Default command to return to the stable (non-Beta) version. From then on you will only get updates to the stable (release version) not the beta version.

I run both a beta and stable version on the same computer by having two different user log-ins. Perhaps that would be possible for you going forward.

I think 6.1 will go pretty fast as it has some really important fixes. Once it is announced on the Logos 6 forum you should do as Mark indicated above. I actually change to Set Update Channel to Stable, but Default will probably work. I would wait as reinstalling can be time consuming.

you can set your update channel to stable when the current beta is released, or you can do so now if you don't want to get any more beta updates
