Target Pane for Opening resources

Could someone please explain the logic that L4.0bB3 is using to determine where to open a pane? I just did a search from the command line and it opened in the main pane that contained my Bibles. Then I opened an esv from the command line and it opened it in a small pane that contains my "Cited By."

I think you're onto something... This regularly frustrates me, too. I'd like to be able to designate a "Target Pane" not just a reference / hyperlink target. And I'd like the option to either replace the current pane with a new one or to open them in a new tab in the panel.

This bugs me slightly too. I normally only have 2 panes open (left and right). L4 seems to open new resources in alternating panes.

I would hope that it is a little more intelligent - that it would try to open new commentaries on a pane where most commentaries already are, ditto for Bibles, etc. But I suppose the guesswork might be hard to codify into an exact algorithm and it might not be worth the effort for the mild annoyance, IMHO.
