Transferring personal books

New computer, fresh install of Verbum 6. On my old computer, it was Logos 5.

I had a lot of personal books. Not trying to be a jerk, but if I've paid for the ePub or Kindle version of a book, I have a real hard time paying again for the Vyrso edition. So I have many titles that have gone through the ePub->Word->PBB route Star .

Verbum 6 lists all my Personal books in the library, and the file list for each Personal Book contains a reference to the original MSWord file (along with the little File Not Found exclamation point).

I tried scan /path/to/logos/backup/ but it didn't restore any of my personal books.

TL;DR: Is there some way to slurp up the old compiled personal books, or am I doomed to clickety-click Delete. Add File. Build Book. snore. Finished. Repeat.

Did you upload them in Logos 6? As far as I am aware each one needs to be physically loaded before they can download.

The upload button is just below the Build book button. Hum, possibly I should upload mine!

Do you mean "library" (in which case you DO have the personal books and you open them like you would any other resource) or "personal book builder tool" (in which case you just have the meta data for the work project for each book)?

Aside from the Logos 4 / Verbum 6 differences, yes. Turns out there were no lbspbb files in that folder, so something else must've gone wrong.

Good distinction. I meant they were in the personal book builder tool, meaning I just had the metadata. I still have all the source .docx files, so I guess there is no avoiding the clickety-click unless I can find out what happened to the lbspbb files. My old machine had died and been rebuilt a few weeks previous (hence the new machine), so it's quite possible I missed backing up my Logos install then, and just noticed my missing PBs now.

Bummer, I'm sorry to hear that your old machine died and you lost all the lbspbb files. The syncing of compiled personal books is new as of L6, so you wouldn't have been able to do the Upload that JohnB suggested back in L5 even if your machine had not died. The scan method would have been the only possible solution for you, but unless you have a backup somewhere and can recover the lbspbb files to a folder you can scan from, then I think you're consigned to "clickety-click." Sorry about that. But be thankful you've got the .docx files backed up. Some people have failed to do that and been totally sunk.
