Acts 4 vol. collection now available at reduced price
Craig Keener's 4 vols. Acts commentary has been on my wish list for quite awhile. It was available in different ways, but to get all 4 vols. cost $320. It was never on sale that I saw. Now it's available in a 4 vol. collection for $270, a $50 savings.

Dale, I have the set in Logos. I think I got it in pre-pub but don't recall the price. It was steep.
Keener covers just about every question you might think of when it comes to a passage in Acts and then adds background info that other commentators assume you'll look up on your own. Sprinkled in are short essays on topics he feels need further comment. There is no other commentary in Logos that comes close to its depth (and I have a lot of them).
That said, it depends on your needs. Sometimes a compact commentary is sufficient.
I'd love to show you a sample, but Keener's section on Acts 2:1-4 spans about 40 pages of text.

Mark, thank you very much. I can see how he's able to fill up so many pages with the abundant references he includes. I took a peak at vol. 4 to see what format was used and learned he did his own interpreting instead of using a standard bible version. So, how do you use this? Do you study it independently of the bible or along with your preferred bible version? Or for reference only?
I'll have to add it to my wish list and wait for a coupon to come along.

Honestly except for some spot research I have not has a reason to use it extensively. If I were to preach through Acts again I would probably use this as my preferred commentary and consult it first.

BTW: I looked up the pre-pub price (it came out at Vol 1-2, then Vol 3, then Vol 4). It was about $180. Rich stuff. That does suggest FL may still have some margin left for further price breaks (it is, however a Baker book so that might be less likely than some others).
If you haven't yet upgraded to an L8 library and plan to do so, you might call sales and see what they'd do for you if you added in that resource with your purchase.

CBD has the set of hardcovers for $192 and list the retail price as $269.99. A set like this can only drop in price over time.
It is not a sale price though, appears to be the regular asking price.
To date this is Craig Keener's magnum opus - and it doesn't in my view disappoint. If you can stretch to the money get it. I will not be getting it in Logos as I have it in all four physical volumes.
