Library Tagging is still broken .... worse under L8

This issue has been around for a while.

In the library edit a tag.
Move to another resource or tag or filed ... and the library updates in the background.

The bug relates to the Library display being updated whilst you are typing a tag ... truncating the incomplete tag on the spot. The desired function should be that If the caret is typing then the refresh of the library display should be delayed until the current editing is complete.

This has now been aggravated by L8 in two ways:

The increased speed means that it is very likely that your next tag will be truncated. Under L7 the slow speed meant that you could enter a tag, and then another, and another, each restarting the refresh cycle so that it rarely truncated.
Upon a refresh, the 'current resource position' is lost. That is to say that when the library refreshes it does not remember the currently selected resource, instead there is no 'current' resource, and the info panel is blank. This becomes an issue if working down a list of resources ... how far down have you got?

I've not had exactly that problem, because I tend to copy and paste mytags from an Excel spreadsheet into the resource tag field in the library. Maybe that is a workaround to avoid the truncating problem.

However, the lag is nevertheless so frustrating. I had to wait while the library updated each resource before adding a tag to another resource. Tagging new resources for L8 base package downloads should have taken just under an hour, but it took over two hours, with so much of that just learning patience, and learning patience, and learning patience... I think I've learned a bit in the end.

L8 is great, I should say - I'm very pleased overall, but the lay issue has been frustrating.

Depending on your tagging needs, you can use (in Windows) Ctrl-click to select a bunch of resources and give them the same tag(s) all at once. This mitigates the annoyance of the library's refresh procedure.
