Book Reading
All,
Did see the earlier thread, http://community.logos.com/forums/t/114.aspx, however, while I am interested in being able to read on another devise, I am also interested in how people read books from within logos.
Is there an app people use which displays the test more like a book and allows for the reader to 'save the page' to come to later? Reading on a computer from a file that I scroll down within is a real annoyance for me.
Am I superiorly picky or are others in my boat and are there solutions!

Does turning the page in a book pose a "real annoyance" for you? All you need do is to hit the space bar to get the next page. When I read a book in Logos (as opposed to using it as a reference work), I expand it to a pseudo full page using <alt-w, t> or "Windows | Tile vertically." I then use <alt-v, c> or "View | Contents" and adjust that to take up part of the screen so that I can see where I am in the book and the lines aren't so long.

Not sure why it offends you so much that you feel the need to reply with a troll-ish comment relating to my desire to not scroll through a file...
However, thank you for the rest of your helpful comment. Does anyone else have pointers regarding navigating ‘books’ for leisure reading, especially page marking?

In the training Videos on Logos.com we have a video about bookmarks and favorites. The bookmarks are how I read through and come back to where I left off. Here is a link to the training video: http://www.logos.com/media/flash/2007FavoriteBookmark/FavoriteBookmark/FavoriteBookmark.html.

I'm not sure why you consider that to be a troll-ish comment. I'm curious why it annoys you since it is so easy.

You haven't seen this thread http://community.logos.com/forums/t/124.aspx where I asked the same question. Anyways, George's advice about the turning page is great. Real reading mode in Logos should be (if I am correct) in version 4. It would be great if it would have the option stay on the page for the next time, without the necessity of putting the bookmark there. We will see.

I had made a request for a feature like that and Bob (Illustrious Logos President) indicated that this is something he himself wants in the next version, so I made the conclusion that this kind of feature will be added, but should probably qualify my first post in noting that I'm assuming so based on his desire. I'd be surprised if it wasn't in there since Bob would like it himself, but I just want to make sure that I'm not sounding like I have any connection with Logos (other than a loyal customer and user.) I think we can really expect it in the new version. I think the Global Bible Reader is a type of testing module for that [;)] But that is just my assumption. No real information on that from Logos.

Of course someone more knowledgable then I could come up with a macro that could have the same resource open in two windows side by side. The second window would always be the line after the first window so that you would read it like a book. advancing a page (space bar) would advance two pages. All this work would be somewhat meaningless though as I believe 4.0 will have a nicer reading mode :-)

Actually your thread was the first I read, however, it seemed to
me more solely focused on taking your 'books' to another portable resource.
Which is an intensely GREAT idea! For me it would be my iPhone book
reader.However, I have a difficult time reading from a monitor and prefer
a more 'book-like' interface. I own a software development company and
was considering developing this type of interface for Logos so that I could
more comfortably read the 'book' recourses available to me in Logos.I'm excited with the developments in V. 4 and would love to see an
expected list of functionally if this is available. If the ‘book’ reader functionally

But that is just my assumption. No real information on that from Logos.You can safely assume the GBR is a prototype .NET application for Logos (it it wasn't stated on the web page it was stated in the newsgroups).

A few months ago (June) I discussed my desire to see a book reading interface which allows for a ‘book-ier’ feel, page turning, book mark placement, etc. Scrolling down through a long electronic file makes leisure reading somewhat cumbersome for me.
I am curious to know if there are any plans for moving forward with this type of interface change now that Logos 4 is here.

Our plan is to keep improving the "Reading View", and to have it support multiple columns and paging.

Press F11 for "Reading Mode". Its basically a full screen view of your resource.

While attending a Camp Logos for L3, Morris Proctor reminded us to increase the font to 200% from the VIEW Menu > ZOOM, which provides for an enjoyable reading experience of a Logos resource.
