CNTTS

Is there someone who knows about the CNTTS and the revisions who can comment on whether the Logos edition is up to date? Is the work they are doing something which makes sense to buy in this form given they are constantly scanning more images etc?

I think you might run into a sore point here. Logos4 maybe? And intro'd at Logos6. Still nice, as long as you don't need their more recent. Accordance appears to have changes from 2015.

I am dying to get this source, but, if the data is a bit archaic I am reluctant to drop $100.
Will watch this thread w. great interest.
BTW, does this source ever go on sale that y’all know of?

So a statement from Faithlife on their intentions with this important resource would be good
They need to do this as a matter of basic provision support (with academic journals and their updates) before serious students will 'bet their buck' on buying with Logos rather than elsewhere.

Yes, I now have a million different software features and ways to search books I don't have... I get a great deal of benefit from these features where the books are available and have purchased many. I just wish there were not so many 'core' resources that can't be sourced from Logos but are only available elsewhere... gutted!

I wonder what many would view as missing core?
The ones I've noticed:
- This AM a recent tagged targum (another thread)
- Bibles in common languages (duh)
- Critical monographs; Tov sort of blew up, almost nothing on the NT side (Metzger at best, but quite thin)
- Obvious translations; how many years on NETS (they're microwaving it as we speak, probably)
- Bibleworks (there's so many, hard to list)
- Just guessing, quite a bit from Catholic (if FL wants to say they do Catholic)
My impression, A-Company has a knack for sniffing out 'core'. Sniff, sniff, sniff .... ah! ... CNTTS update!

I wouldn't characterize a few years as archaic. That'd be greek.
But you really would need to be interested; it's even hard for Logos to manage the display.
I think it's best use is when you're between a rock and a hard place, and the mss's diverge ... you need them to support your opinion! The problem is knowing the copyist sequences, however.

Thanks Denise. Good points.
This just seems like a must-have for serious exegetical studies (watching to see when it goes down in price...if ever🤓).

it looks like CNTTS shipped in Sept 2014. I looked in the introduction and found this. So it looks like we're missing the 2015 update and anything else since sept 2014.
"In 2013, a total review of the variation units was started, with those updates still ongoing, but with many included in this edition of the apparatus. Plans are to finish the update on the variation units for the entire NT in 2015. Future stages will include the on-going work of reviewing and correcting or clarifying the data as well as the addition of more witnesses each year as part of the planned annual updates."

Whatever the reasons are, FL has dropped the ball ⚽️ on this one. Accordance (whom I will no longer call “A-company”), has done a better job at updating this.
I don’t really need a resource like this one, unless it was for researching and writing academic papers. Other than that, is not a resource for preaching.
