Cloud Resources Question

I am running beta on my laptop, but not (yet) on my Mac Mini. As strange as this sounds, I am thinking of making the mini a "mostly in the cloud" computer. I do use Logos on it from time to time, but my macBook is my primary computer.

My question is this: Is there a means to delete resources locally? Or is the answer to wipe and do a clean install? What would that process look like? Any suggestions for a "lean & mean" install? My first thought is to create a collection of study bibles, one volume commentaries, etc. which I can download to both the mac mini & to my iPad. Thoughts?

If there is a desire for me to beta test this, I would be willing to do so.

You can bulk select resources in the library then "Remove from this device" via the right-click menu. Is that what you're asking about?

Yes.

But you'll also need to manually rebuild the indexes afterwards, otherwise they'll waste space.

If you update to the 8.4 beta, then you how much bulk Removing would you need to do (2000+ resources)?

If you install the 8.4 beta, you will experience a limited download --> datasets + "curated" resources + your Prioritized resources (new to Beta 4). Then you can Remove and Download (from Cloud) to get the resources you want. Note that you first have to do a complete uninstall of v8.3.

For testing purposes I decided to go with the current installation, but may do a fresh install later. Here is what I have done:

Created a curated "skinny install" collection (study bibles, single volume commentaries, favorite bibles, favorite dictionaries)
Created an "everything but the skinny install" collection (the numbers added up right)
Filtered the library for the "everything but collection," did a "select all" and chose "remove from device."
I restarted the application
I ran the command "rebuild index"

I am heading in to town now, but have I missed any steps? Should the resources be removed from my hard drive at this point? I did notice a discrepancy in the Library count, which I quickly discovered were personal books. I don't know if any of those were "in the cloud" or if I used the manual method to import them. Any suggestions for removing those? Again, this is my secondary computer. I don't want to delete them from my primary computer!

If you updated from v8.3, none of the resources would be in the Cloud. PB's that are not Uploaded cannot be Removed from Device (right-click to check). To delete these locally, you have to delete the PB file in the Resources folder because Hiding or deleting from the PB tool are global functions. Note that uploaded PB's act like normal resources, as they will be downloaded if manually deleted, but they can be Removed from Device (put into the Cloud).

That is what I did! [:)]

Note that uploaded PB's act like normal resources, as they will be downloaded if manually deleted, but they can be Removed from Device (put into the Cloud).

That is what I did!

If you did that and the PB was restored, then it was an uploaded PB!

No, I meant to say that I did as you suggested. I think some may have been uploaded (not sure), but I had changed the "auto download new resources" to off. None did redownload.

"Auto download Updates" is the setting that applies here. But you will know about a download whether it is NO or YES.
