The 2nd edition of the IVP one is on prepub... not sure what the difference is though.

The odd part is if you look at the set. The Old testament original has the same cover as the newer second edition. The original NT edition has an older looking cover. Not sure what is going on with the covers. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks Mattillo for the info! I am in.
I am a sort of "background addict". But there is a long way from background to practical Christian life. (background -> exegesis -> theology -> devotion -> Christian life). How to keep the balance? [^o)]
You convinced me! I'm in!
The difference is that all the new notes from the NIV Bible Background Study Bible have been inserted into the old commentary. That way they kill 2 birds with one stone: 1) Expand the commentary and 2) Add up to date information that the commentary doesn’t have 😂😜👍😁👌

Why not update the OT then? I guess that is forth coming? DAL would you say then if you have the NIVBBSB then this upgraded isn't needed? Nothing new/different?
Matillo, I would have to see more sample pages, but as it is right now, me, personally, I wouldn’t buy it.
