Zondervan discounts nearly useless for Pradis owners with large libraries

I own almost everything and more in Zondervan's prepub. Even with the 40 percent discount it would cost over a $1000 to update my Pradis resources. There is no payment plan for prepubs and the discount can only be used once. It appears to me that Zondervan did this intentionally so that many Pradis owners would not be able to take full advantage of the discount. It's bad enough the discount was so meager. Making it nearly impossible for those who invested heavily in Pradis to take advantage of it is unforgivable. Or at least it is for me. Smile

If anyone has been following the forums on the Pradis-Zondervan issue, I think they know how angry you are with Zondervan. May I suggest that it is doing no good to continue to post on this forum your complaint with Zondervan?As you are well aware some folks here agree with you or at least sympathize and others do not. There really is nothing more to say here. Logos has nothing to do with the way Zondervan is dealing with this
issue. We can't help you.

Here is a customer service number you can call directly to Zondervan's headquarters. I believe using it is you best alternative at this point.

I hear ya. I am a Pradis user myself and I don't like the way things are being handled, but I am pretty sure that Zondervan wants our business. They lose money when people decide not to take them up on their supposed discounts.

I, too, have purchased many Zondervan titles in the Pradis format.
I, too, have expressed my shock and frustration at the pricing model of the Zondervan titles in Logos.
But my perspective is a little different than yours. I would gladly purchase the Zondervan Bundle for the Pradis owner's upgrade pricing because I think having it in the Logos format is well worth it.
My problem will be convincing Zondervan to grant me that pricing. Although I purchased all my Zondervan software well before the 01/01/2010 deadline, I did not register most (any?) of it.

Sometimes in life we do not get treated fairly. We can look at the past or look to the future. I think if I focus on what future good the Zondervan resources will be under Logos I can forget the past and make it worth the price paid. Even if I am not able to purchase them, I'm not going to let anger over past offenses keep me awake and unhappy. Peace brother.

EDIT: One more thing. I am happy Zondervan has chosen to publish their titles in the Logos format. It can't get any better than that. Lots of ministers will be helped by having them.

Well I had pre-Pradis materials not Pradis (once burned, twice cautious). They weren't giving me any discount at all until I called. I explained my situation and asked how they were handling such cases. They put me on the list to get the 40%. So while I am not overwhelmed, they at least considered my case and included me with others (I haven't checked yet, but assume they did this). That, at least, is fair. The whole thing is another issue and it is out of Logos' hands.

If you explained how the discount was of no help and your substantial investment in Pradis, maybe they would see about doing something for you.

As I said, it can't hurt and they are the only ones who could be of any help at this point.

Have you tried calling Zondervan? Several Pradis users were not in the database that Logos initially recieved. When I called they were very courteous and promptly resolved the issue ( I had two titles in Pradis and was able to order the entire bundle for a bit over $1000). They asked what titles I had, If I remembered when I purchased them, and serial numbers if I had them (It seemed clear that they would have given me the discount if all I knew was the names of the titles I had). Others have reported similar positive experiences. It might be worth a call or email (they responded to a followup email within one day)[8-|]

I've been as vocal about this as anyone. But we've expended a great deal of emotional energy on a topic that will not be changing. I would suggest, for all of us Pradis users own emotional well-being, lets just move on.

Richard- while I agree the discount is not what one would have liked- I for one am thankful for it. I am also thankful, that most of the bundle are items I will actually use- no useless stuff like in a lot of the packages.

But I also must add, these will be the last Zondervan products I purchase- the prices are to high.

I have started reverting to paper products again because of the expense, many times books that are coming on line can be purchsed for les than 25% of current Logos pricing. And in this eceonomy and the job market keeping debt down and using resources wisely is a must.

Why did I share this? Everyone's situation is different, and they will have to make their decisions based on their circumstances. It is neither good or bad, pro-Logos or anti-Logos, its just the way things are.

If the discounts are not enough and you can't afford it- don't buy. But if your just angry that its not all the discount you wanted, maybe its time to just say "Oh well" and move on.

If the EBC were the new edition I'd upgrade but I won't repurchase the older edition.

I wish I would have waited to buy the LAC's . The way they are doing this discount anything Pradis would have got me a discount.

Once upon a time I paid a mechanic named "Bullet" $400 to swap out an engine in a 1978 Chrysler Newport. Bullet disappeared with my money. That wasn't nice. I paid a second time to get the engine installed and had that car back on the road. It was well worth the money. Maybe you should look at the Zondervan Bundle this way.

What will I do?

Don't Pradis users have until the beginning of Summer to take advantage of the upgrade price? Start saving the $ and go for the whole collection before the special pricing is gone.

Matthew, I have not purchased anything Zondervan from Logos. I spent nearly 1000 on Pradis stuff and I'm not going to spend that much again to upgrade my books from Pradis to Logos. Pradis still works and will for a long time thanks to virtual machines.

I'm done ranting about the crummy way Zondervan has treated Pradis users. It's a waste of energy and I'm wearing on the patience of my brethren.

Now I'm considering using the discount to purchase the one resource Logos is offering I don't already own. But that means doing business with Zondervan. Which means I must take back my vow never to buy anything from Zondervan again. Considering all the good stuff Zondervan publishes that was a foolish vow. Now I have decide whether I'll swallow my pride sooner or later. Well, God gives grace tot eh humble and resist the proud. So I guess it better be sooner than later.

I'm asking you to give a little more thought before using your one-time discount opportunity for just the one resource. I have certainly done more than my share of ranting about this. Ranting behind me now, I've looked at the complete collection from a different perspective. I've actually been talking this over with my wife. (That's a new one. EDIT: a new concept, not a new wife!) I am familiar with most of the resources because I bought them in Pradis like you did. Since you don't HAVE to act this week I hope you take a few days to imagine how beneficial the complete collection would be running integrated under the Logos interface. And a major factor in this equation is the support you will get through the Logos staff. (That should be the trump card, imo.) If you doubt me, ask a few that bought the Calvin Collection or Spurgeon Collection in the last few hours of Pre-Pub. See if they regret it. They saved a lot and now see those resources from within Logos and not by PDF, or another 3rd party's inferior interface.

Some things in life are so painful an experience you don't want to re-live them over & over. Skipping the complete Zondervan Collection will only ensure you re-live those feelings every time you boot up Pradis to use the old titles. Then, whenever you hit that "speed bump" in efficiency running under Pradis instead of Logos, you will re-live that pain all over again. Unless you enjoy pain or think God is trying to teach you something through enduring it, I encourage you to forgive Zondervan for past wrongs (perceived or real) and take advantage of this opportunity and buy the whole set. Almost every single volume is of the highest quality. Almost. [:D]

There is no payment plan for prepubs and the discount can only be used once.

Credit card = payment plan.

If you're interest rate is reasonable, say around 6%, then its really no different than what Logos would charge you for each payment transaction. Last I checked they charged an extra $5 per payment, right?

At $1000 spread over 12 monthly payments through Logos, you'd pay an extra $60. On a credit card with a 6% interest rate, it'd come out about the same, and maybe even less since the 6% should only apply to the remaining balance. Plus, many credit cards give you a 30 day grace period on a purchase before they start applying interest to it.

If you're interest rate is double that, say around 12% or 13%, then just pay it off in half a year and it'd still be the same.

Thanks for your kind response to Richard, very refreshing! All this talk & advice from various poster to "get over it" without acknowledging his pain has been less than helpful in IMHO. I think in your last post you struck the right balance & i just wanted to let you know. As one who has all things Pradis i do understand where Richard is coming from.

Thanks for not rubbing the pain in where Richard is concerned, even though i think it is time to move on. Right or wrong our brother was offended how one responds to his offense is important.

I have a large Pradis collection with over 100 books and even if I bought the new Logos collection I would still have copyrighted sources that I only have in Pradis.

The way I see it , what Zondervan has done is over and done with, and I can not change that, I still have all things Pradis, but for how many years I don't know.

And although in this economy I can not buy the whole Logos set, I can still update some of my resources!!!

I have never liked Pradis, but it was easy to carry those books around!!! Now Logos is giving me 40% off on good Zondervan resources in what I believe is the worlds best home educational system, I will buy the max that I can afford, and I will do it with a joyful heart, knowing these resources will be used much more often and will be much more meaningful to me.

I am thankful for what the Lord is allowing me to get! But I got to admit my flesh keeps tugging on me, to walk in the flesh and not by faith!
