Installing across multiple Windows 10 user profiles

I wear many hats so use several different Windows 10 user profiles to keep things separate. Three of those profiles require my installation of Logos 8 to be available. Until recently I was using Logos 7 and was having trouble with accessing Logos from any profile besides my home profile. That was causing me a lot of trouble and wasted time, to I completely uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it into my home profile using a directory in my system drive's root. Then, when Logos made Logos 8 available to all, I updated. Normally, when I install an app it is available in all profiles automatically. Not so with Logos. So, how do I gain access to Logos 8 in all my profiles? Thanks.

Logos is designed as a per-user installation i.e. install and use in the same user profile. If you create shortcuts in different user profiles, it will first attempt to install another instance. So you need three installations of Logos 8.

It doesn't matter where it is installed, that instance of Logos can only be used from the profile in which it was installed.

Faithlife designed Logos (from version 4 onward) to be a per-user installation, in line with their User License Agreement (see points 5 & 13).

You can have multiple installations, provided the device(s) is owned by you, and substantially intended for your use e.g. I have 2 installations on one laptop and another on a desktop. With v8.4+, I have the freedom to install all, or a subset, of my Library - useful if disk space is limited. So, on the laptop, I have a full installation and a partial installation of my books.

An organization option is using Virtual Machine(s) (VM) to keep hat specific stuff separate. Clipboard and/or storage could be shared. Each VM could have one or more hat specific profile(s).

Years ago had several VM's running at the same time, which allowed each VM to have its own virtual private network (VPN) connection.

So, how do I gain access to Logos 8 in all my profiles?

It's an increasingly popular way of installing software. Chrome, for example, has been doing it for years.

But I feel your pain. I had a similar set-up, but eventually gave up on it because I relied on Logos. I tried the VM route suggested by KS4J, but it affected performance badly. (Your experience may differ, so it's worth you trying a VM.)

That said, installing per-user shouldn't cause any problems other than using lots of disk space. If one particular profile is causing you issues, and you want to fix that, start a new thread explaining the issue, ideally with logs, and we should be able to help.

I tried the VM route suggested by KS4J, but it affected performance badly. (Your experience may differ, so it's worth you trying a VM.)

Windows desktop computer for running several VM's at the same time had an Intel Core i7, 32 GB Ram, 1 TB SSD, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 graphics (excellent graphics performance per watt used). One performance tweak was setting page file size to small fixed size, which runs the risk of running out of memory when using programs. Hence tweaked memory settings for normal use to allow several VM's and host to run using physical memory (since swapping & paging for virtual memory noticeably lag performance). Used HDMI dual link to connect 4K display to graphics card (and a second 1080p monitor), which allowed a number of windows to be open at the same time and arranged for quick viewing (so a long running task in one VM could be visually checked by a glance).
