Auto filing of highlighting missing, permanent or temporary?

Before the update, I had set up my notes/highlighting so that when I highlighted in a certain style, it would automatically file it in a certain folder.

On my desktop this still works, it files it under a certain NOTE.

But on my phone/iPad I have to do this as two separate actions, highlight then note"book".

I tried to use the former notes system on desktop ( Set Prefer Notes Tool to No) and see how it was I had assigned a highlighting style to a Notes system, but I cannot find that feature.

Q1) Is there a way to autofile by highlighting in the new (Logos8) notes system?

Q2) Is the non-filing of highlights on iOs and iPad a permanent thing?

Q3) Is there a fundamental difference between Notes and Notebook?

For a number of reasons FL needed to update the notes system... if for no other reason than performance and stability. The changes have been made to lead in that direction, but there are always some "bumps in the road" so to speak.

It is my understanding that the old "note document" system bundled all related notes together into a single file. Consequently a large note document could easily be corrupted, and caused troubles in downloading (especially on mobile). The new "notebook" system does not have those problems.

For clarification: The old mobile app allowed you to change the behavior for where newly created notes were automatically stored. My preference was to send new highlights to "last used note document" (a "sticky" choice). The new app does not have that feature currently. It may or may not be brought back at some point.

Is there a fundamental difference between Notes and Notebook?

A "note" is like a page/piece of paper (of indeterminate length!). A "notebook" is like a three ring binder which holds those pieces of paper. It is simply an organizational tool for your benefit, if needed.
