Bug 8.7 SR-2 Bug? -Highlight sometimes not working

I was using the saved layout template called 5 column Bible study (not sure if this is a standard template) and highlighting doesn't work (show or save). It doesn't matter if I use the popup menu that shows as soon as I am done selecting a phrase or use the shortcut keys. After wasting a bunch of time trying to figure out why it wasn't working, I switched to a 3 column layout and everything started working.

How can I get it working in the 5 column layout? I removed several resources and re-added them, but highlighting still doesn't work. Is this a know issue with layouts that were likely created a while ago?

In the 5 column template, are highlighting notes created when you highlight? That is, can you see what you've highlighted when you go to your notes?

Check to ensure that the appropriate highlighting visual filter is on when in the 5 column template.

Can you provide a screenshot? By 5 Column, I'm assuming you mean you have the resource set to 5 Columns. Highlighting works for me. But perhaps you mean something else. A screenshot or a video screencast would help clarify things.

After some more testing this morning I found that the notes tab on the left was not responding. Once I deleted it and added it again then the highlighting worked. Here is a link of when it was not working. The screen capture software didn't catch the popup or the separate notes window at the end but you can still see that the highlight didn't appear.

Everything is working now so hopefully it stays that way.
