Why is that?You're using the Bible search, where the boundary for hits is the verse (in Basic search, it's the chapter - there the search should work).
You could make it work by using <Person Pilate>, so it would find the "he" and the wife in one verse.

But my searches show no results
Why is that?

This is because Bible searches only return results within the same verse
