The speed in System Preferences Accessibility Speech is adjusted to "Fast," Logos is restarted, but the voice is still very slow.
Replicated Read Aloud speed being independent of System Preferences Accessibility Speech so 1.0 sounded the same in 7.12 RC 2 and 7.13 Beta 1 on macOS 10.12.6 while System Preferences was set to Fast. Changing System Preference speed to "Normal" had no effect on System Narrator and Mark Allen. Changing Read Aloud speed did affect audio playback speed.
Awesome would be Read Aloud speed starting at 2.0x when System Preferences is set to Fast. Currently Read Aloud starts at 1.0 speed.

If a Resource has more than one Voice, then can choose Narrator:
For clarification: The method that KS4J shows is to allow you to switch between the audio book and the system narration. To change the system narration voice (which is not a Logos function), use the path I provided above.

It doesn’t work that way.
If you have an audiobook of a resource, it will read (obviously) in the language as intended. If you are trying to use the operating system “read aloud,” then it will use the system voice to read the resource in the system language. If you are English speaking and your Mac is set up in English, it will read a Spanish book as of it were English (which would be nonsense).
The system voice is necessarily and directly tied to the system language. You can’t get a system voice to read in Spanish if set to English. The system voice cannot read Biblical Hebrew. If you speak (and read) modern day Hebrew, you can change the system language to Hebrew, but I suspect that isn’t your question.

I tried this but it's reading in a totally different voice, much lower quality than the Siri voices you can download now. I have Male Siri set in my accessibility options but it seems to be reading it with the Alex voice? I tried restarting Logos to no avail. I'm on MacOS. Any ideas?

Replicated a bit of voice bugginess using 8.14 Beta 3 on macOS 10.15.4 in the Lexham English Bible (LEB), which has an audio voice of Marv Allen option. Changing from Marv Allen to System Narrator causes System Narrator voice to be used except for any Siri voice. Changing System Narrator to a Siri voice caused consistent use of Marv Allen for Read Aloud in LEB. Narrator selection was effectively ignored (restarting application had no effect on voice).

Yes, I'd like to note I'm using the latest Logos 8.13 and the book I tried with is Preaching by Tim Keller. It seems to have the same issue with all of the resources that don't have an audiobook version.

In a resource that does not have an audio resource (e.g. ASV), replicated a male voice being used for Read Aloud when macOS Speech System Voice was set to a female SIRI voice (using Verbum 8.14 Beta 3 on macOS 10.15.4). Thankful for Apple offering many high quality voices in macOS 10.15 Catalina (other than SIRI) that do work so can listen to an English Bible with various speaker enunciation of English consonants and vowels: e.g. Carmit (Hebrew), Melina (Greek), Nikos (Greek), Oliver (United Kingdom), Tessa (South Africa), Victoria (United States). Several high quality voices have clear distinction for playing at 1.4x or 2x speed.
