Has anyone used Faithlife groups to follow along a reading plan with others? How easy was it for others to use and follow along, particularly non Logos users and users that don't want to buy any Logos resources?
I would like to use Faithlife groups to attempt a year-old whole bible reading plan with some of my friends, and I've been around with it this morning. I went into my local Logos install, setup a reading plan using Morris Proctor's Chronological Reading Plan from the wiki, and set it to read with a secret Faithlife group I setup for testing with. I then setup a second Faithlfie/Logos account using my work email address and invited that account to join this new Faithlife group.
When I am logged in as my new Faithlife user, following along the reading plan is relatively straight forward, although a little jarring in the change of presentation as it takes you to Biblia.com when you click on the entry for the next reading passage. Is there a way for a group member to follow along with the readings using their preferred Bible translation, in the case where it differs from the translation that was used for the setup of the reading plan?
The real problem started when I downloaded the Faithlife app on my Android phone (T-Mobile Galaxy Note II). I knew from my previous experience that the reading plan should show up in the Devotions section of the app, but I didn't see the group reading plan that I had connected to in the Faithlife website (I was logged in as my test user). I even tried to add a new reading plan, but I couldn't find the plan that I was connected to in the Faithlife group. When I logged into the Android Bible app, still with my test user, and I can see the reading plan there. I am guessing that the reason that I can't see this reading plan in the Bible app and not in the Faithlife app is because I set it up to with the NLT as the resource and I can only see the Lexham English Bible in the Faithlife app.
I think I am going to go ahead and try to use the shared reading plans feature with my friends, but I'll just recommend that they skip the Faithlife app on their mobile devices and download the Bible (by Logos Bible Software) app.
